MATTHEW 8:23-27
Jesus Calms the Storm
Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.
Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the
boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord,
save us! We’re going to drown!” He replied, “You of little faith, why are you
so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was
completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even
the winds and the waves obey him!”
Matthew 8:23-27 (NIV)
When we are with Jesus, we don’t need to be afraid. Let us trust
in his promises that He will
never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy
31:6, 8; Hebrews 13:5). We may face storms in our lives and feel overwhelmed and
think that are going to drown; God is always there to save us, we just have to
call His name. When we call on him, let our plea be a prayer of faith not of
desperation and hopelessness, because God is pleased when we come to Him with
faith and believe that He will strengthen and save us.
We should trust God with all our hearts, not only during good times but also during the “not-so-good” times. Any storms we may face or is facing, we know that He is there to save us and give us the peace that we need even when everything else around us is in turmoil; He will calm the storm for us.
