Psalm 103:3, 10, 12
3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
David marvels at Separation. Mercy means God takes the record of your debt and puts it where He canโt see it. It is the relief of a debt cancelled so you don't have to pay.
Romans 8: 1-2
1There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
In the Covenant of Grace, it isnโt just about distance; itโs about Dismissal. Grace destroys the power of the accuser. You aren't just "not punished"; you are legally "Not Guilty."

Psalm 103:3

This is the mercy of a God who patches up our broken frames.
It is God intervening in our physical frailty
Romans 8: 11
"And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you."
Under Grace, healing isn't just an external touch; it is an internal Quickening. The same "Resurrection Power" that split the grave now lives inside your DNA. You aren't just waiting for a touch; you are carrying the Healer inside your mortal body.

Psalm 103:4, 6
4 who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy
6 The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.
This is the mercy of God who rescues you from the hole you dug for yourself, and reaches down to pull you out.
Romans 8: 3-4
For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Under the Covenant of Grace, God didn't just pull you out of the pit; He destroyed the pit. He didn't just help you escape the "Law of Sin"; He condemned sin itself.

Psalm 103:5
who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
This is about physical and emotional Refreshment. God gives you "good things" to make you feel young and strong again. Itโs about your strength being "recharged."
Romans 8: 26, 28
26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose
This is a deeper Satisfaction. When you are too weak to even know what to ask for, the Spirit prays through you. It means even when you are exhausted, the "Goodness" of God is being woven into your life by the Spirit's authority. Your strength isn't renewed by "things," but by the Person of the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 103: 13, 14
As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. 14 For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.
God feels sorry for us because we are fragile. He looks at our "dust" and pities our weakness.
Romans 8: 14, 15
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, โAbba! Father!โ
The Resurrection upgraded our status from "Fragile Dust" to "Legal Heir." We didn't receive a spirit of fear to be "slaves to our dust" again; we received the Spirit of Adoption.

Psalm 103: 7, 18
7 He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel.
18 to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.
In the Old Covenant, Mercy was often tied to our Performance. It was for those who "remember" and "obey."
Romans 8: 32
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us allโhow will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
The Covenant of Grace is anchored in Christโs Performance, not ours. The proof of the covenant isn't your "remembering," it's God's "giving" of His Son.

Psalm 103: 17, 19-22
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children,
19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. 20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! 21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will! 22 Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!
David sees a Kingdom of Order. God is in charge, His love is "steadfast," and His angels do His work. It is a comforting, eternal kingdom.
Romans 8: 37-39
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8 moves from "God is in charge" to "God has shared His victory with us." You aren't just a subject of a steadfast King; you are More than a Conqueror. In Christ the very things that try to separate you (demons, death, peril) actually have to bow to you.
