Prayer Meeting Recap (July 31)

Gilbert shares in James 1:9-11, He reminds us not to pursue the temporary things of this world, which will eventually fade away. Instead, our greatest desire is the Lord. Regardless of our times of abundance or need, we are called to continue praising God and remaining faithful. Just as a flower eventually fades, the things of this world are temporary, but Godโ€™s Word and His promises endure forever.

John Joseph shares in James 3:1-12, challenging us to guard our words carefully. The tongue is one of the most difficult parts of the body to control, yet it has the power to bring life or destruction. We cannot use our mouths to praise God while also speaking words that hurt, insult, or curse others. Our speech reflects the condition of our hearts. When Jesus truly dwells within us, His love should be evident in the way we speak to others.

In Luke 4:38-41, Ptr James shares about Jesusโ€™ compassion and authority as He healed Simonโ€™s mother-in-law and many others who were sick and oppressed. Although the disciplesโ€™ faith was still growing, they witnessed firsthand the power of Christ. Even the demons recognized Jesus as the Son of God and submitted to His authority. This reminds us that true faith is not just knowing who Jesus is but completely trusting and obeying Him.

Jesus declared that He is the source of Living Water. As believers, we are called to repent, confess our sins, and remain connected to Christ, because we cannot become living water if our hearts are stagnant.

We also learned that God's Word brings a choice. Some will believe, while others will reject it, just as the Pharisees questioned the identity of Jesus.

This Sunday, we were reminded that many people failed to recognize who Jesus truly was because they relied only on human understanding. While they questioned His origin, Jesus pointed them to the One who sent Him, the Father.

We also learned the difference between:

๐Š๐š๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐ฌ โ€“ God's perfect and appointed time. Jesus' mission, including His sacrifice on the cross, happened according to God's divine timing.

Before the miracle, Jesus tested Philipโ€”not because He knew the answer, but because He already knew what He was going to do and He wanted to test Philip's faith.

This Sunday, we were reminded through John 6:22โ€“40 that nothing this world offers can truly satisfy the hunger of our souls. We often come to God seeking temporary blessings and earthly needs, but Jesus invites us to pursue something far greater, a lasting relationship with Him and the gift of eternal life.

May we never seek Christ only for what He can give, but because of who He is. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. Let our hearts desire the Bread of Life more than the things that will one day perish.
