Every girl and boy has a name, rights and deserves peace.

On the International Day of Non-Violence (October 2, 2025), the Marist Foundation for International Solidarity (FMSI) and SED – Solidarity, Education, Development launch “My Name is Childhood”, a global campaign for peace that puts children and their rights in the focus of public attention.

We make a collective call to the Marist family, organizations, international community, humanitarian NGOs and world leaders to ensure:

🕊️ Safe schools, free of violence, with safe access to learning.

🤝 Unhindered humanitarian access to protect the civilian population.

🛡️ Priority of children's rights in all decisions, respecting the dignity and highest interest of every girl and boy.
️ Ethical communication that protects girls and boys and does not expose them to risk.

Come together. Wear the shared symbol to support together the same demand: that children's rights always come first 🕊️ os — use it on calls, websites and social networks.

A TRANSIENT'S REFLECTION:

A video made by Gurong Katutubo - Titser Beth". for Marist Palawan mission highlighting the importance of the presence and mission of the Marist in Palawan. It is summarizing the lasting impact of the Marist Mission that started 25 years ago. This video and part of it was voiced over by Ms. Evangeline Cadeliña. "Ampo Kai" was a Palaw'an Language translation of the Our Father. A prayer taught by Jesus Himself the His Disciples. Spoken (in this video, sung) in another language but means the same.

Seeing how the mission involved into its present form, these Indigenous People are witnesses to the presence of the Marist especially to the difficulties and the challenges they were facing while on mission.

After 25 years, we are facing a new chapter of the mission and life lived by the Marist Brothers among the people of Palawan. We are faced with enormous challenges that may break or make the lives of the children of Malutok Mission. We are faced with life-changing decisions that may destroy the future for these children. We came with a firm belief of the values and charism instilled in our Congregation by our founder St. Marcellin Champgnat. The core values of the Marist Brothers are Simplicity, Love of Work, Presence, Family Spirit, and In the Way of Mary. These values guide our mission of educating young people, especially those most neglected, and sharing this charism with others who embrace these principles.

I have been a witness of these difficulties which personally molded me as a Marist Brother. I saw how the brothers who have been assigned before me struggle with language barriers, malaria, and the difficulties to reach the place among others. I will embark into a new journey of my Marist life after Palawan Mission. But Palawan Mission will always live in me.

As a Marist Brother, the question remains in me on how we go forward despite our realities as a Congregation. One thing is certain and will remain be true, God's grace is abundant in us, we were blessed with so many people who are with us all the time helping us, but these people have almost no one to help them. They were exploited by so many people. But seeing the glow in the eyes of the younger generations of Palawan Children gives me hope for a better future. We have all the reasons and the resources to help them. Together with all the Marists in the world, and with God who gives us the needed tools to help, we can make a difference.

As we celebrate tomorrow (June 6) the 185th death Anniversary of St. Marcellin Champagnat, we ask and pray to him to give us the strength that he had to go “on mission” to the most in need. We pray to him to refresh our memories of him “lost in the snow” trying to find his way. We pray to him to help us find God’s purpose for us as a congregation and missionaries and lastly, he may help us find the true meaning of “being Marists” into the world full of cruelty, discriminations and selfishness.

To the people of Malutok especially the young people, I personally thank you for the opportunity that you gave me to be with you and be a part of your lives. As much as you learned from my presence (hopefully), it is I that you enriched, it is my being Marist that you enriched with your authenticity and your simplicity of life. You have added another chapter in my book of life. This will remain in me and be my guide as I continue to live my life as a Marist Brother. Some of you have said, I am leaving you behind, but no, I am just absent but will always be present. Know that I will be praying always for the well-being and successes of your children.
