A Prayer for World Peace

Lord God, Creator of all nations, we come before you with hearts heavy for our broken world. We ask for your divine peace to descend upon every land, especially those torn by conflict, violence, and division.

Replace hatred with love, fear with hope, and vengeance with forgiveness. Calm the storms of war and bring an end to the injustice that tears families apart.

We pray for world leaders: Grant them wisdom, humility, and the courage to choose dialogue over destruction. Open our eyes to see everyone we meet as our brothers and sisters.

Comfort the grieving, protect the innocent, and heal the wounded. Make us instruments of your peace, that we may work together for a world in harmony and mutual respect.

In the name of the Prince of Peace, we pray, Amen.

DO NOT BREAK THE ROSARY HELD BY A DECEASED LOVED ONE

Let us not cut the rosary held by the deceased. We saw when our Pope Francis was laid to rest that he was holding a rosary—yet it was noticeable that it was not broken or cut, unlike the common practice and superstition of many Filipinos during funerals. Cutting or breaking the rosary is a serious mistake during wakes and burials in the Philippines. The rosary of the departed should not be cut because it symbolizes our faith and love for Jesus and the Virgin Mary. The mysteries of the Holy Rosary are events in the life of Jesus that we should preserve, practice, and honor. The rosary should not be divided or cut due to fear or superstitious beliefs. Let us allow the deceased to carry their rosary intact as a sign of respect for their faith and as a symbol of their devotion and prayer as Catholics.
