Please join us in praying for the people of Nepal following catastrophic flash floods.

On 26 August, collapsing glacial ice and rock near the Nepal-China border unleashed a torrent of water, mud and debris through Himalayan valleys. Communities in the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts are among the worst affected. Hundreds of people have died, many hundreds remain missing and homes, roads, bridges and places of worship have been destroyed or damaged. Rescue work continues amid the risk of further flooding.

The Anglican Church in Nepal has asked for urgent prayer, following reports that pastors and members of local churches are among those who have died or remain missing. Several churches have also been damaged.

Please pray for all those still unaccounted for, those who are grieving and families in urgent need of shelter, food, clean water and medicine. Pray also for pastors and church leaders serving devastated communities, and for all those leading rescue and relief efforts.

God of compassion,
draw near to the people of Nepal.
Comfort those who mourn,
protect those who remain in danger,
strengthen those searching for the missing
and sustain all who are serving their neighbours.
Bring help, healing and hope to every affected community.
Amen.

πŸ™ Friday Evening Prayer

Gracious and loving God,
as this Friday comes to an end, we thank You for carrying us through another day. We are grateful for Your blessings, Your protection, and the strength You give us each day.

Tonight, we place our worries, burdens, and uncertainties into Your hands. Calm our hearts and quiet our minds. Give us the grace to let go of what we cannot control and the faith to trust in Your perfect timing.

Watch over our families, loved ones, and everyone who needs Your care. Protect those who are traveling, working, or facing difficulties. In these days of unsettled weather, keep everyone safe from heavy rains, floods, landslides, and other dangers.

Heal those who are hurting, strengthen those who are weary, comfort those who are grieving, and give hope to those who feel discouraged.

May Your peace surround our homes tonight. Grant us peaceful sleep, renewed strength, and a heart ready to welcome tomorrow with faith and gratitude.

Lord, remain with us through this night and always.

In Your loving name, we pray. Amen. πŸ™

1 September marks the beginning of the Season of Creation and is observed by many Christians as Creation Day. The Feast of Creation in Christ may be celebrated on 1 September or on the first Sunday in September.

While many churches mark this season through worship and prayer, individuals, families and small groups can also take part through personal prayer, reflection and Bible study.
