Christ The Light Of The Nations Christian Family Church Reaching People Through God’s Word And Prayer

04/06/2026

In 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:‭13 NIV‬‬, “And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.”

🔤 Paul thanks God that the believers of Jesus in the Thessalonian church received the message he preached not as mere human words, but as the true Word of God. Because they believed and accepted God's message, it worked powerfully in their lives and produced spiritual growth.

As believers of Jesus, we should earnestly seek Jesus and receive with faith the message of the gospel—Jesus Christ and Him crucified for our sins. At the same time, we should carefully examine everything by God's Word to ensure that what we hear is true. When we humbly accept and obey God's truth, His Word transforms our hearts, strengthens our faith, and helps us grow closer to Jesus.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray that you “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (as I also pray that) you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2 NIV), in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

In 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:‭12 NIV‬‬, “encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.”

🔤 The apostle Paul explains that he encouraged, comforted, and urged the believers of Jesus in the Thessalonian church to live lives worthy of God, who called them into His kingdom and glory. Like a loving father guiding his children, Paul faithfully taught them how to follow God and honor Him in their daily lives.

As followers of Jesus, we are members of God's family and are called to reflect His character in the way we treat one another. We should encourage, support, forgive, and care for each other with love, patience, and kindness. When believers of Jesus live in a manner worthy of God and show His love to others, they become a testimony of His grace and bring glory to His name.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray that “you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians‬ ‭1‬:‭10 NIV), in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

In 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:‭11 NIV‬‬, “For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,”

🔤 The apostle Paul reminds the believers of Jesus in the Thessalonian church that he cared for them as a loving father cares for his children. He personally encouraged, guided, and instructed them so they would grow strong in their faith and live in a way that pleases God.

When we trust in Jesus, we are adopted into God's family as His children. As our loving Heavenly Father, God cares for us, teaches us, corrects us, protects us, and leads us for our good. Believers of Jesus should therefore live with the confidence that they are deeply loved by the Almighty Father and should respond to that love by trusting Him, obeying Him, and growing in their relationship with Jesus every day.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God (for) (e)veryone who loves has been born of God and knows God” (1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭7 NIV), in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Kindness in the Spirit

29/05/2026

In 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:‭10 NIV‬‬, “You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.”

🔤 The apostle Paul reminds the believers of Jesus in the Thessalonian church that he and his companions lived among them in a way that was holy, righteous, and blameless. Their conduct matched their message, giving the Thessalonian church a living example of what it means to follow Christ.

As believers in Jesus, our lives should reflect Christlike character. We are called to live with integrity, holiness, kindness, humility, and obedience to God so that others may see Christ Jesus in us. While no believer of Jesus is perfect, our words, actions, and attitudes should consistently point people to Jesus and bring glory to God.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray that, “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness” (Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭5‬-‭7 NIV), in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

In 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:‭9 NIV‬‬, “Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you.”

🔤 The apostle Paul reminds the believers of Jesus how hard he and his companions worked day and night so they would not become a financial burden while preaching the good news about Jesus. Paul willingly labored as a tentmaker and endured hardship because he sincerely cared for the people and wanted to serve them faithfully.

This reflects the example of Jesus Christ, who lived humbly and worked as a carpenter before His public ministry. Jesus did not live for earthly riches or comfort but came to serve and give His life for others. In the same way, servants of Christ should not seek to burden people for personal gain, but should serve with humility, diligence, sacrifice, and love. Believers of Jesus should follow Christ’s example by working honestly, helping others, and using their lives to bless people and glorify God.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray that “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” (Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭23 NIV), in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

In 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:‭8 NIV‬‬, “so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.”

🔤 The apostle Paul explains that he and his companions not only shared the gospel about Jesus with the believers in the Thessalonian church, but also lovingly gave their own lives in caring for them because the people had become very dear to them. Their ministry was not driven by greed or personal gain, but by genuine love.

This reflects God’s great love for us through Jesus Christ. God loved sinners so much that He gave His Son to save us (John 3:16; Romans 5:8). When a person truly experiences God’s love and forgiveness through Jesus, that love naturally overflows to others. A believer who loves Jesus Christ will desire to share the gospel about salvation in Jesus, care for people sincerely, and show Christlike love through words, actions, sacrifice, and service.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God (for) (e)veryone who loves has been born of God and knows God” (1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭7 NIV), in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

In 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:‭7 NIV‬‬, “Instead, we were like young children among you. Just as a nursing mother cares for her children,”

🔤 The apostle Paul describes how he and his companions cared for the believers of Jesus in the Thessalonian church with the same gentleness and love that a nursing mother gives to her own children. They patiently nourished the new believers with God’s truth so they would grow strong in their faith and relationship with Jesus. Paul did not treat them as mere followers, but as spiritual family whom he deeply loved and personally cared for.

This reminds believers of Jesus that caring for the spiritual growth of our families is a sacred responsibility. Just as a loving mother carefully feeds and protects her children, we should lovingly guide our families in knowing Jesus through prayer, God’s Word, worship, and a Christlike example. Spiritual growth in the home requires gentleness, patience, consistency, and genuine love. Our desire should not only be for our families to succeed in life, but most importantly to grow in faith, obedience, and closeness to Christ Jesus.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray that you and your family “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen” (2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭18 NIV), in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

In 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:‭6 NIV‬‬, “We were not looking for praise from people, not from you or anyone else, even though as apostles of Christ we could have asserted our authority.”

🔤 The apostle Paul and his missionary companions did not seek fame, honor, or personal gain from the believers of Jesus in the Thessalonian church. They did not use their authority as apostles to demand money or privileges from the people to whom they preached the gospel about Jesus and Him crucified. Instead, they willingly gave themselves in humble service for the good of others, living as servants for Jesus’ sake (2 Corinthians 4:5).

Although they had the right to receive financial support, they chose not to make ministry a means of profit or self-promotion. This stood in sharp contrast to many traveling teachers and philosophers in the Roman world who sought wealth, applause, and popularity.
Paul and his coworkers followed the example of Jesus Christ, the perfect Servant-Leader. Jesus taught His followers to reject pride and worldly prestige and to serve others humbly in love. As He said, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).

Believers of Jesus should therefore look for leaders who display Christlike servanthood—leaders who humbly serve, sacrificially care for people, and seek God’s glory rather than personal recognition or gain.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray that “if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, (b)ut as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua‬ ‭24‬:‭15 NIV), in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

In 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:‭5 NIV‬‬, “You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness.”

🔤 There should be purity in the ministry serving Jesus. In a time when false teachers were spreading conflicting messages, the apostle Paul reminded the Thessalonian church that he never used flattery to gain followers or preached for financial gain. His goal was not to enrich himself, but to help people grow in faith and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Paul could confidently call God as his witness that his motives were sincere and pure.

This stands in sharp contrast to false religious leaders who use smooth words, emotional manipulation, and fake spirituality to exploit people for money or personal gain. Jesus warned about such people, saying they appear like sheep outwardly but are really “ravenous wolves” (Matthew 7:15). The apostle John also urged believers to “test the spirits” because many false prophets have gone out into the world (1 John 4:1). Likewise, Paul warned in Romans 16:17–18 that some deceive others through flattering speech while serving their own selfish desires rather than Christ Jesus.

For believers of Jesus today, this verse is a reminder to discern carefully whom we follow. True servants of God point people to Jesus, teach sound doctrine, and seek spiritual growth in others, and not and never for financial profit or personal fame. Christians should examine whether a leader’s ministry reflects humility, truth, and genuine care for souls, or whether it is driven by greed, manipulation, and self-interest.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray, as I “thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe” (1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2‬:‭13 NIV), in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
