In 1979, a group of residents from Sitio Veterans, Bagong Silang, Quezon City, talked with Fr. Myco, S.J. to hold a mass in Sitio Veterans at least once a month. The residents built a simple structure where the Mass could be held and eventually as a venue where they could meet regularly. In 1980, the structure
was destroyed by a typhoon. An abandoned house was rebuilt and this became their Chapel. This was also destroyed in 1986 by another typhoon. The residents decided to build a stronger concrete structure which they were able to fund through Christmas carol solicitations. The new structure was put in place in 1997 and it became their Chapel with the name Sagrada Familia suggested by the lot owner. Vic Labao, S.J. held mass once a week in the Chapel. In 1991, Christ the King Parish in Filinvest II, Quezon City was established under the administration of the La Salette Missionaries. Sagrada Familia Chapel was placed under Christ the King Parish but was transferred to San Isidro Labrador Sub-Parish which became a Parish in 1995. Repairs on the Sagrada Familia Chapel began under the term of Fr. Melchor “Chong” Balinggao in 2000 when he became the Parish Priest of San Isidro Labrador. Church activities increased and the people in the community began to actively participate in the activities. Chong recommended to Bishop Antonio Tobias the upgrading of the Chapel into a Parish before he was assigned to a different Parish. After a series of consultations with the community, Bishop Tobias wrote to different Religious Congregations who might be interested in administering the Chapel. In June 23, 2005, Sagrada Familia realized its dream of becoming a Parish when the Order of Carmelites heeded the call to manage it. Antonio “Tony” Dela Cruz, O.Carm became its first Parish Priest until 2007. Gilbert Sabado, O.Carm, succeeded Fr. Tony then followed by Fr. Arnel L. Glodobe, O.Carm who served until 2019. Sagrada Familia Parish is now under its fourth Parish Priest, Fr. Jonathan Serofia, O.Carm.
