Dominic is a public association of the faithful, that is, the Dominican Third Order (Cf. CIC 1983, c. 303), which is composed of diocesan priests who live their priesthood in the diocese following the spirit of St. Dominic, and under the higher direction of the friars of the Order of Preachers. It is the term now used by the Order to designate the Dominican tertiaries who are priests, and who are

currently guided by a Rule that is distinct from that of the lay members of the Fraternities. Thus, each Fraternity of priests is necessarily affiliated with a Province of the friars, and is under the care of the Prior Provincial or his delegate, who is usually the Provincial Promoter. Dominic in the Philippines is under the care of the Dominican Province of the Philippines. It has taken various names in the past, and is now in the process of creating local chapters of Dominican Diocesan priests all over the country.
