East Asian Pastoral Institute

East Asian Pastoral Institute The East Asian Pastoral Institute is a Jesuit – run residential pastoral institute for renewal, updating, sabbatical and leadership training.

VISION OF THE INSTITUTE

We are a multicultural Catholic community of disciples striving to witness to a new way of being Church in a region characterized by diverse cultures, religious traditions, widespread poverty and rapid social change. MISSION STATEMENT

We commit ourselves, following the way of Jesus Christ, to serve the churches of Asia and the Pacific in their mission to share the Good Ne

ws as leaven in the transformation of cultures and societies towards the value of God's reign. We provide programs for the integral formation and renewal of the laity, religious and ordained ministers. In a supportive intercultural environment that facilitates personal growth and community life, the participants are helped to be more:

Reflective and discerning of their personal and spiritual journey. Rooted in their social, cultural, and religious situations in a global context. Conversant with biblical and theological insights

Committed to the dialogue with the poor and with people of different faiths and cultures. Familiar with multidisciplinary perspectives needed for this triple dialogue. Equipped with analytic tools, pastoral approaches and skills for their ministry.

WELCOME TO MANILA! πŸ›οΈ This semester's batch of EAPI delegates had their first tour together as they headed to no other than Manila's important landmarks. Our delegates had the chance to immerse themselves with Philippines' rich tradition as they witnessed first hand cultural artifacts at the National Musem, Rizal Park, and Intramuros. Through the tour, our delegates had a better understanding of the history of the country they will live in for the next five months!

IN PHOTOS: Fr Tony Moreno SJ successfully launched his inspiring book Imperfect Leadership: A Jesuit Reflects on His Journey with over a hundred attendees here at the East Asian Pastoral Institute! Hosted by Sr Ley Salazar and endorsed by Fr Jett Villarin SJ, the book launch was an uplifting event as Fr Tony uses his life to testify that the best leaders are those who embrace, not cover, their imperfections.

Reflecting while also cracking some good jokes in between, Fr Tony reveals both his strengths, as well as his vulnerabilities, to demonstrate how leadership is not just for the strong but also for the humble. In his book, Fr Tony models to us that a man can still use his shattered compass in fulfilling the missionβ€” as long as the needle magnet leads him to the right direction, and his battered heart chooses to continue.

May we all continue to lead in spite of our battered hearts and shattered compass!
