PART I | The Altar Servers of the Diocese of Novaliches gathered alongside the Carmel Youth of the Sagrada Familia Parish for the Opening Liturgy of the St. Tarcisius Relic Tour 2026. This special spiritual event took place on August 21, 2026, at the Cathedral-Shrine and Parish of the Good Shepherd. The gathering brought young servants together in prayer and fellowship, celebrating the inspiring legacy of St. Tarcisius, the patron saint of altar servers.

The Assumption of Mary and the Ascension of Jesus are closely related, but they are not the same. Both point toward heavenly glory, yet they differ in who is involved and how each mystery takes place.

๐Ÿ”น ASSUMPTION โ€” THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

The Assumption teaches that the Blessed Virgin Mary was taken into heaven body and soul at the end of her earthly life. The Church celebrates this solemnity on August 15.

Mary did not ascend by her own divine power. Rather, she was taken up by God through the grace of Christโ€™s redemption. The Assumption is a unique privilege granted to Mary, who was preserved from original sin and faithfully cooperated with God throughout her life.

Although the Assumption is not described directly in Scripture, it is firmly rooted in Sacred Tradition and was solemnly defined as a dogma of the Catholic Church by Pope Pius XII in 1950.

The Assumption gives us hope: what God has begun in Mary, He promises ultimately to fulfill in all who faithfully follow Christโ€”the resurrection and glorification of the body.

๐Ÿ”น ASCENSION โ€” OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

The Ascension refers to Jesus Christ returning to the Father in glory forty days after His Resurrection. It is celebrated during the Easter season.

Unlike Mary, Jesus does not simply receive heavenly gloryโ€”He returns to the glory that belongs to Him as the eternal Son of God.

The Ascension is explicitly recorded in Scripture:

๐Ÿ“– Acts 1:9โ€“11 โ€” Jesus is taken up before the eyes of His apostles.
๐Ÿ“– Mark 16:19 โ€” The Lord is taken up into heaven and sits at the right hand of God.
๐Ÿ“– Luke 24:50โ€“53 โ€” Jesus blesses His disciples and is taken up into heaven.

The Ascension does not mean that Jesus has abandoned us. Rather, it marks the completion of His earthly mission and His exaltation as King and Lord. From heaven, Christ intercedes for His Church and sends the Holy Spirit.
