The St. Jude Religious Organization is inviting the faithful and devotees of the Patron Saint of Desperate Cases, St. Jude Thaddeus in the celebration of his Feast Day. Fiesta Mass will be on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Jude Chapel, St. Jude Subd., Zabarte Road, Quezon City.

Today, September 26, 2024, marked the 30th anniversary of Jesus Lord of the Divine Mercy Parish (JLDMP), we take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey of faith, community, and dedication that has brought us to this significant milestone. Established as a Parish on September 26, 1994, JLDMP has been a beacon of spiritual guidance and service to its parishioners, with the invaluable support of its sub-parish communities.

The sub-parishes of 𝑻.𝑺. 𝑪𝒓𝒖𝒛𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒃𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏, with its Chapel dedicated to 𝐒𝐭𝐨. 𝐍𝐢𝐧̃𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞; 𝑵𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝑶𝒍𝒚𝒎𝒑𝒖𝒔 𝑺𝒖𝒃𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 - 𝑯𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑽𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒈𝒆, home to the Chapel of 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲; 𝑺𝒕. 𝑱𝒖𝒅𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒃𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏, with their devotion to 𝐒𝐭. 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐮𝐬; the 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑵𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 (𝑼𝑵𝑨) - 𝑮𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒅 𝑲𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒂 (𝑮𝑲-𝑪𝑻𝑲), under the patronage of 𝐒𝐭. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫; and 𝑯𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝑽𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒈𝒆, where the parish church stands, have all played a crucial role in shaping the strong foundation of our parish. Their collective resources and unwavering faith led to the construction of our beloved church and the St. Faustina Formation Center, where generations have been nurtured in the Catholic faith.

Integral to the spiritual growth of our parishioners has been the Parish Renewal Experience (PREX), which has become a cornerstone of community life. Since its introduction, PREX has provided hundreds of individuals with a transformative weekend of faith and reflection. Many of these graduates now serve in various ministries, strengthening the parish’s mission and embodying the values of Christian service.

The Marriage Encounter Weekend Seminar under the Family and Life Ministry has been a transformative experience for husbands and wives. More than a hundred couples have deepened their love and commitment through this program, enhancing the essential elements of married life and serving as a testament to the enduring power of faith in the family.

Supporting the parish's endeavors are religious organizations like the Knights of Columbus (KofC), the Divine Mercy Apostolate, and other faith-based groups, who have been invaluable in the successful implementation of various initiatives. Their dedication and service have bolstered the parish’s mission, ensuring its long-lasting impact.

Besides these spiritual achievements, JLDMP is also proud to have produced priests serving in different religious congregations. Rev. Fr. Aaron Niño Galvizo, AM of T.S. Cruzville Subdivision, and Rev. Fr. John Christopher Pedro Baptista, CMFConv from North Olympus were ordained in the priesthood. Their journey began within the nurturing walls of our parish, and their vocations are a source of immense pride for our community.

Over the past three decades, JLDMP has grown into a vibrant faith community, thanks to the guidance of its devoted parish priests, past and present and their counterpart lay people in the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) and the Parish Finance Council (PFC). Through their leadership, various formation programs have been implemented, enriching the spiritual lives of all parishioners. The parish has become a place of refuge, strength, and community for all who seek to deepen their relationship with God.

As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, let us remember the countless blessings that have been bestowed upon our parish and the tireless efforts of every individual who has contributed to its growth. From the humble beginnings of the chaplaincy to the thriving parish we are today, we owe our success to the grace of God and the unwavering devotion of our parishioners.

May the next 30 years be filled with even greater faith, service, and love as we continue to walk together on this journey of faith, ever united in the mercy and love of our Lord.

Jesus Lord of the Divine Mercy Parish marked a significant milestone in its history during the installation of its fifth Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Rudy M. Tulibas on September 26, 2019. This event coincided with the Parish’s 25th Founding Anniversary, a historic moment further highlighted by the installation of Most Reverend Roberto O. Gaa, D.D., as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Novaliches. The confluence of these events underscored a new chapter not only for Father Rudy but also for the entire parish community, setting the stage for leadership rooted in faith and commitment to service.

Fr. Rudy is widely recognized not only for his leadership skills but also for his compassionate and kind heart. This characteristic is evident in how he approaches his pastoral duties, particularly during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic. His ability to blend compassion with effective crisis management has endeared him to his parishioners and has been crucial in guiding the community through periods of uncertainty. His pastoral care extends beyond the immediate needs of his congregation, reflecting a deep understanding of the emotional and spiritual support that his community requires.

𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜

Fr. Rudy‘s second year at the Parish unfolded against the backdrop of the global COVID-19 pandemic, a period that tested the resilience and faith of communities worldwide. As the pandemic coincided with the Lenten season, it presented unique challenges and opportunities for the Parish under his guidance. Embracing the new normal, Father Rudy spearheaded the shift to online Masses and religious activities, ensuring that the spiritual needs of the parishioners were met without compromising their safety.

He demonstrated exceptional compassion and selflessness during the COVID-19 pandemic by personally supporting needy parishioners. Despite having comorbidities, which increased his own risk, Father Rudy placed a high priority on meeting the spiritual needs of his parishioners, ensuring that they continued to receive spiritual nourishment despite the challenging circumstances. Even with limited assistance from church servants due to health and safety restrictions, he maintained the regular schedule of online Masses. His dedication to providing these services underscores his commitment to the spiritual well-being of his community, reinforcing the church's role as a source of hope and solace in times of crisis.

His actions exemplified his profound dedication to his community, reflecting a pastoral approach that prioritizes the well-being and support of his flock above his own health concerns. This level of commitment not only provided tangible help during a critical time but also strengthened the bonds within his parish, showcasing his profound influence as a spiritual leader.

During his online sermons, Father Rudy often spoke about the pandemic as a crisis and an opportunity for growth and introspection. Under Father Tulibas' leadership, the Jesus, Lord of the Divine Mercy Parish implemented several key measures to balance healthcare concerns with religious obligations. The Parish adapted quickly to the changing health guidelines by promoting online or virtual religious gatherings and minimizing in-person activities. This approach aligned with the governmental mandates and demonstrated the Parish's commitment to the health and well-being of its members while continuing their spiritual nourishment. He was ably supported by the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) headed by Engr. Henry Dela Cruz.

His tenure as the Parish Priest of Jesus, Lord of the Divine Mercy Parish during one of the most challenging times in recent history illustrates his dedication to his faith and his community. Through innovative solutions and a deep commitment to the spiritual health of his parishioners, Father Rudy has shown that leadership in times of crisis requires both faith in God and faith in the potential of the community to overcome adversity together. As the situation normalized, he revived the Parish Renewal Exprience (PREX) and made additional schedule of Masses at the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Chael in North Olympus subd.

Known for being a man of few words, communicates profoundly through his actions of kindness and understanding. This characteristic has endeared him deeply to his parishioners, who appreciate his empathetic and genuine approach to ministry. His ability to connect on a meaningful level without excessive words highlights his deep commitment to his faith and his community, making him a respected and beloved figure within his parish.

On July 21, 2013, a significant transition occurred at the Jesus Lord of the Divine Mercy Parish with the solemn installation of Rev. Fr. Leonides T. Laguilles as the fourth parish priest. This marked the beginning of a dynamic period under his leadership, characterized by vigorous pastoral initiatives and community engagement, reflecting his deep commitment to faith, service, and community.

From the outset, Fr. Leo embraced the already established ministries of the church, steering them towards the nurturing and expansion of Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC). His vision for the BEC was clear: to serve as the backbone of a rejuvenated Church, fostering integral evangelization, empowering the laity, and uplifting the economically disadvantaged sections of the community.

In a significant move to foster a deeper sense of stewardship among his parishioners, Fr. Leo launched the "𝐵𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑘-𝐻𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑜𝑔" program, a visionary initiative aimed at cultivating a culture of gratitude and giving back within the community. The "Balik-Handog" program proposes a transformative shift from the Arancel system, promoting voluntary donations instead of obligatory fees, thus making the Church's sacramental life more accessible to all, regardless of economic status.

As the "Balik-Handog" program gains traction, it promises to reshape how parishioners view their role within the Church, highlighting the importance of active participation and the joy of giving back in gratitude for God's countless blessings.

His role as the Diocesan head of the Pastoral Care for Migrants and Itinerant People of Novaliches (PAMINOVA) enabled him to set up the Family Life and Migrants Office within the parish. This office became a pivotal resource for the families of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), offering values education, counseling, and various training and formation programs tailored to their unique needs and challenges.

Father Leo’s musical talents significantly enhanced his pastoral initiatives, particularly through his involvement in the production of "𝑃𝑎𝑔𝑙𝑎𝑙𝑎𝑦𝑎𝑔" 𝑀𝑔𝑎 𝐴𝑤𝑖𝑡 𝑛𝑔 𝑀𝑖𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑔 𝑃𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑜, a Music CD compilation as a tribute to the migrants and their families left behind. As a skilled saxophonist and singer, he not only led spiritual and community-building efforts but also directly engaged in creating music that resonated deeply with the parishioners and the broader community. His rendition of “Aking Gabay" alongside notable Filipino artists like Tres Marias, Noel Cabangon, and Luke Mijares, and with special participation of the Sto. Niño de Cruzville Choir, among the few, helped bridge the gap between the church and the cultural sphere, further enriching the lives of many, especially the families of migrants who find solace and connection through music. It was also during his tenure that he collaborated with his friend and music composer Lucien Letaba in the composition of the parish’s theme song “Mabathalang Awa” a profound ode to Divine Mercy.

Father Leo’s initiatives were not limited to spiritual nourishment; he actively involved the community in various social activities, thus fostering a strong sense of belonging and participation among the parishioners. He used his charismatic leadership to foster a sense of participation and unity among the residents of the various villages and subdivisions within the parish. By emphasizing community involvement and collective action, he cultivated a festive atmosphere that transcended simple religious observance and ventured into the realm of active communal life.

Under his stewardship, parish events became vibrant gatherings that brought together people from different backgrounds. His ability to connect through both spiritual and cultural means—be it through liturgical celebrations, music, or social outreach—turned ordinary parish activities into opportunities for communal joy and solidarity. This festive spirit not only bolstered the parish's unity but also strengthened the residents' engagement with the Church's mission and with one another, reinforcing a network of support that thrived on inclusivity and mutual respect.

Father Leo's approach demonstrated how faith communities could be dynamic centers of hope and joy, significantly impacting their broader environments by creating an inclusive and celebratory atmosphere that welcomed all, thus embodying the spirit of the Gospel in everyday life.

Under the guidance of PPC Chairperson Engineer Mel Flores and other dedicated lay members, Father Leo worked tirelessly on the parish pastoral plan. A landmark achievement of his tenure was the finishing and inauguration of the St. Faustina Formation Center, a three-story edifice dedicated to the spiritual and formative activities of the parish. This center not only serves as a hub for religious education but also symbolizes the communal spirit and collective effort of the parish.

Father Leo’s attention to the physical comfort of his congregation led to the installation of air conditioning in the church building, ensuring a more conducive environment for worship and community gatherings. This practical improvement was made possible through the generous contributions of the parishioners, among them the Gok-Ong Family highlighting the collaborative spirit infused by Father Leo’s leadership with Bro. Henry Dela Cruz, serving as PPC Coordinator in the last remaining years of his pastoral incumbency.

Through these multifaceted efforts, Fr. Leo has significantly shaped the parish’s trajectory, enriching the spiritual lives of many and fortifying the community's resilience and unity. His tenure is a testament to the powerful impact of visionary pastoral leadership in fostering a vibrant and engaged church community. He bade farewell to the parish on September 26, 2019, after the general reshuffle of parish priests in the Diocese.

Rev. Fr. James Gaa, the third Parish Priest of Jesus Lord of the Divine Mercy, began his impactful ministry by focusing on substantial renovations to accommodate a growing congregation.

During his inaugural year at Jesus Lord of the Divine Mercy Parish, Fr. James devoted himself to enriching the spiritual life of the community through various religious formations and initiatives. His efforts focused on deepening the faith and engagement of the parishioners through a variety of programs and seminars.

Fr. Gaa placed a significant emphasis on religious education and spiritual renewal. He intensified the Parish Renewal Experience (PREX), a program designed to rejuvenate the spiritual vigor of the parish community, fostering deeper connections among its members. Understanding the importance of strong marital relationships within the parish. He introduced the Marriage Encounter (ME) Weekend Seminar. This seminar aimed to strengthen the bonds between married couples, offering them a platform to renew and affirm their love and commitment to each other. With the assistance of only three auxiliaries (𝑇𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑅𝑢𝑏𝑦 𝑅𝑎𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑆𝑖𝑠. 𝐽𝑎𝑛e𝑡 𝐴𝑟𝑟𝑖𝑜𝑙𝑎), and the Ecclesial Team from Tuklasan ME Community, it has produced over a hundred couples today, with the leadership of couple, Bro. Robert and Sis. Vicky Pajado.

Fr. Gaa’s first year set a strong precedent for his tenure, marked by a commitment to fostering a spiritually active and educated community. His initiatives helped lay a robust foundation for the parish’s ongoing growth and spiritual deepening, reflecting his visionary approach to church leadership. Through these diverse programs, he ensured that the parish not only grew in numbers but also in faith and unity.

𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧

Early into his second year, Fr. Gaa, together with the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), embarked on expanding and rejuvenating the existing church infrastructure.

Under his leadership, and with the Parish Pastoral Council helmed by Bro. Ramon Legaspi and Bro. Noel Pimentel, respectively the church undertook ambitious projects to enhance its facilities. To build a bigger Church. The construction commenced on August 8, 2008, and saw rapid progress, reflecting the community’s zeal and commitment, despite meager resources.

The work culminated with the installation of a new altar, the Retablo, symbolizing the parish’s spiritual renewal. The renovation efforts bore fruit when, on September 22, 2012, in celebration of the church’s eighteenth foundation anniversary, then Novaliches Bishop Antonio R. Tobias, D.D., consecrated and dedicated the Parish Church. Notably, with the presence of then, Fr. Roberto Gaa, who in the future be installed as Novaliches third Bishop. This event marked a significant milestone in the parish’s history, ushering in a new era of worship and community service.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

Before concluding his term, Fr. Gaa initiated the construction of the St. Faustina Parish Formation Center, aimed at enhancing educational and spiritual formation within the community. Positioned adjacent to the church, the center was envisioned as a hub for learning and fellowship, reinforcing the parish’s foundational belief in trust and divine guidance.

𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧

Fr. Gaa’s tenure is remembered for his visionary leadership and the profound trust he placed in 𝐽𝑒𝑠𝑢𝑠, 𝐿𝑜𝑟𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐷𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝑀𝑒𝑟𝑐𝑦. His efforts not only expanded the physical structure of the church but also strengthened the spiritual foundation of the parish, preparing it for future generations. The community, emboldened by faith and led by devoted leaders, continues to thrive, embodying the spirit of unity and resilience.

On May 10, 1997, Fr. James Nitollama, was installed as the second parish priest of Jesus, Lord of the Divine Mercy Parish, who has made a lasting impact on both the church and the community through his unique passion for music. As one of the renowned “𝑆𝑖𝑥 𝑃𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑖𝑡𝑦”, Fr. James brings a rare combination of spirituality and musical talent, transforming the parish into a vibrant place of worship.

𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜

Fr. Nitollama is not just a spiritual leader but also a performer who touches the hearts of his parishioners through his soulful renditions during Mass. His journey as one of the Singing Priests—a group of six priests known across different dioceses in Metro Manila—has made him a well-loved figure both inside and outside the church.

In his role as parish priest, he introduced music as a central part of the church's activities. From regular Masses to special parish celebrations, his melodic voice can often be heard, uplifting spirits and bringing people closer to God. Whether it's a solemn hymn or a joyful worship song, Fr. Nitollama uses music to foster a deeper connection with the Divine.

𝐀𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫

Fr. Nitollama’s love for music goes beyond entertainment; it is an integral part of his ministry. His approach has revitalized the parish, attracting more people to participate in church activities. By integrating music into worship, he has made the church experience more engaging, especially for the younger generation.

Through his leadership, Jesus, Lord of the Divine Mercy Parish has become a beacon of joy and spiritual inspiration in the community. His innovative way of using music as a tool for evangelization continues to resonate with many, making him a beloved figure not only within his own parish but also in the broader Catholic community in Manila.

Fr. James Nitollama’s work is a testament to how one’s passion can be used to enrich the spiritual lives of others. As a shepherd who leads his flock with both word and song, he remains a shining example of a priest who truly embodies the joy and grace of serving God.

The most important programs during his tenure were the establishment of different formation programs, like the Parish Renewal Experience (PREX), the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs), and the Youth Ministry. He caused some expansion of the Church building and the provision of the sculptured life-sized image of the Divine Mercy serving as the Altar. The plans and programs of the Parish were supported by the PPC headed by Bro. Isaias Empeño, Sis. Fe Tadena and Bro. Rizal Morales, in the order of their election, respectively.

On Jubilee Year 2000, Fr. Nitollama made a proposal to the Archdiocese of Manila for the creation of a new parish at Greenfields I Subdivision, for better pastoral care of the growing population. The new parish was dedicated to St. Maximilian Ma. Kolbe and to be composed of four (4) areas from the mother parish and three more from the Immaculate Concepcion Parish (Greenfields II).

The proposal was approved and with the establishment of the new parish, JLDMP maintained the five (5) areas (𝑇.𝑆. 𝐶𝑟𝑢𝑧𝑣𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑒 𝑆𝑢𝑏𝑑𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛, 𝐻𝑜𝑏𝑎𝑟𝑡 𝑉𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑎𝑔𝑒, 𝑁𝑜𝑟𝑡ℎ 𝑂𝑙𝑦𝑚𝑝𝑢𝑠 𝑆𝑢𝑏𝑑𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛-𝐻𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑆𝑢𝑏𝑑𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛, 𝑆𝑡. It was during the term of Fr. Nitollama when Pope John Paul II established the Diocese of Novaliches on December 7, 2002, and has served the parish until June 1, 2007.
