We praise God for another Lord’s Day gathering, where His people were called to worship, sit under His Word, and commune together in Christ.
The service began with a warm welcome as everyone was greeted by the Ramirez Family, reminding us of the joy of gathering as one body.
Ptr. Ed led a meaningful teaching from the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith on the Lord’s Supper, helping us prepare with reverence and right understanding as we approached the Lord’s Table.
Our congregation lifted praises through singing led by Bro. JJ, with Bro. MJ on guitars, Sis. Jamie on keys, and Sis. Halvi and Sis. Chelle on backup vocals. We sang “All Creatures of Our God and King,” exalting our great Creator.
The Scripture Reading was led by Bro. Rolly Ramirez from Deuteronomy 1:1–5, pointing us to God’s faithful dealings with His people.
We continued in worship through “Jesus, Thank You,” rejoicing in the finished work of Christ.
The preaching of the Word was ministered by Ptr. PJ from 1 Corinthians 9:1–18, with the message titled:
“𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 & 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐩 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭”
📖 Message Summary:
God gives His servants legitimate rights, yet love for the gospel may lead us to willingly surrender those rights so that Christ is proclaimed without hindrance.
Key truths from the sermon:
1️⃣ 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒔 (v.1–6)
Paul defended his apostleship—he had seen the risen Christ, and the Corinthians themselves were the fruit of his ministry. Like other ministers, he had the right to provision, marriage, and support.
2️⃣ 𝑺𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒎𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 (v.7–14)
Through common sense, the Law (Deut. 25:4), and even temple practice, Paul showed that those who labor in the gospel have the right to receive material support.
3️⃣ 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 (v.15–18)
Despite having these rights, Paul chose not to use them. Why? So that nothing would hinder the gospel. His conviction was clear:
“Woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”
His reward was the privilege of preaching Christ freely.
Application:
Christian freedom must always be governed by love for the gospel. We are called not merely to ask, “𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒎 𝑰 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐?” 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓, “𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒖𝒑?”
Ultimately, Paul reflects the heart of Christ Himself:
📖 “He humbled himself… to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:5–8)
In response, we sang “All I Have Is Christ,” declaring that Christ alone is our hope and treasure.
We then partook in The Lord’s Table, administered by Ptr. Ed, sharing in the communion of the saints as we remembered Christ’s sacrifice.
The Offerings and Announcements were led by Bro. Ronnie, followed by the Doxology and Closing Prayer, giving all glory back to God.
May we be a people who gladly lay down our rights, comforts, and preferences—so that Christ may be known and the gospel may advance.
