DAVID L. DAWSON, Executive Director of ETS, has been in the training of lay people for nearly forty years. As a highly-effective communicator, Dave is an experienced teacher and conference speaker. He has taught ETS at Denver Conservative Baptist Seminary, Dallas Bible College, and at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, under Dr. Roy Fish. For twelve years he has conducted a year-long internship on training laymen to do the work of ministry for the Field Education Department of Dallas Theological Seminary. Dave was the National Director for The Navigators for twelve years in Singapore. It was there that Equipping The Saints was developed to equip church lay people. He travels extensively throughout North America and overseas, in cooperation with mission agencies and other groups to develop the ETS work in National Churches.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

The Bible
We believe that the Bible is consists of 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the infallible and authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16, Psalms 33:4, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

The Doctrine of Trinity
We believe that the One Triune God exists eternally in three persons: FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT. (Matthew 28:19, Acts 1:4-8, 1 John 5:7)

Deity and Humanity of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ has dual nature God-Man, was born of a virgin, died on the cross, rose bodily, and ascended to heaven where He is presently exalted at the Father’s right hand and that He is coming back visible and personal. (John 1:1, 14, Matthew 1:23, 17:5, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, John 12:44-50, 1 John 4:1-3)

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, the third person of the Trinity. We believe that he is presently helping the church to bring the Gospel to the world. (Acts 5:3-4, Psalms 139:7-8, 1 Corinthians 2:10-11, Ephesians 4:30, Romans 8:26-27, John 14:16, 26; 15:26)

Salvation
We believe that salvation consists the forgiveness of sin, the imputation of Christ’s righteousness and the gift of eternal life receive in faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone, apart from works. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, John 1:12, 5:24; Act 4:12, Romans 10:9-10)

Sin and Its Consequence
We believe that sin has separated man from God and unless a person repents and receives Jesus, the final consequence is second death or eternal separation from God. (Romans 3:23, 5:12, 6:23; Revelation 21:8)

Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and on the third day he rose again from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:3-5, Hebrews 12:2, Galatians 3:13, 1 Peter 2:24)

Heaven and Hell
We believe that the saved will be raised to everlasting life to be in heaven with the Lord, and that the unsaved will be raised to everlasting and conscious punishment in hell. (Revelation 4; 20:12-14, 2 Thessalonians 5:5-10)

The Church
We believe that all born-again believers collectively is the body of Christ – the Church (and Jesus is the Head), that by faith have received Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, have confessed and received forgiveness of their sins and have surrendered their life to Christ and for whom Christ will come again. (John 1:12, John 3:3-6, Galatians 2:20, 1 John 5:11-13)

Discipleship
We believe that to effectively bring the gospel to the world is to train all believers become disciples and disciple-makers. (Matthew 28:18-20, 2 Timothy 2:2)

The Rapture
We believe that an event called the Rapture of the Church will take place to remove all believers from the earth to escape the tribulation. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 Corinthians 15:50-54)

Tribulation
We believe that there will be seven years of Tribulation, and three and a half years of Great Tribulation where the wrath of God will be poured out to the nations. (Revelation 6:1-18, Matthew 24:21, Daniel 9:24-27)

Millennial Reign of Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ will reign physically on earth for 1,000 years. (Revelation 20:2-7, Micah 4:2-4, Jeremiah 31:33, Isaiah 11:1-10)

Judgment Seat of Christ
We believe in the judgment seat of Christ where rewards will be given to the faithful followers of Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:10, Romans 14:10-12, Hebrews 11:6)

Great White Throne Judgment
We believe that Jesus Christ will judge the living and the dead at the Great White Throne Judgment and those whose names are not found in the Book of Life will be thrown to hell. (Revelation 20:11-15, Matthew 25:31-46, Romans 2:5-6)

New Heaven and New Earth
We believe in new heaven and new earth that is to come where all believers will be with God for eternity. (Revelation 21:1-7, Isaiah 65:17; 66:22; 2 Peter 3:13)

Equipping The Saints is a world-wide discipleship training program. Each lesson is designed for one-on-one disciplemaking or for small groups. If groups meet weekly the program is completed in under eighteen months. This course will take a new or mature believer through all the major doctrines in the Bible and will make them into active and capable "fishers of men" reproducing disciples who are fruitful to the fourth generation.

Four courses are divided into eight books containing eight lessons each (64 lessons in total). The focus of each book are as follows:

Book 1A - Establishing The Vision
Book 1B - Building The Basics
Book 2A - Evangelism As A Lifestyle
Book 2B - Conserving Evangelism's Fruit
Book 3A - Discipling In Small Groups
Book 3B - Reproducing Laborers
Book 4A -Developing Leadership
Book 4B - Mastering The Bible

Course work includes teaching and outside assignments (reading and Bible study) as well as Scripture memory. Classes are broken into smaller accountability groups to ensure application of truths being learned. Covering all the major doctrines of the Bible, and practical areas such as money and time management, as well as leadership skills and building Christian character, the courses are aimed at training participants to help fulfill Christ's Great Commission to "... go and make disciples of all the nations... "
