As the Christmas season approaches, we are called to look beyond our own celebrations and remember the profound message of Pope Leo XIV in Dilexi Te: that our faith is made real through concrete acts of compassion for the most vulnerable. It is a season not just for receiving, but for becoming extensions of God’s care to those who need it most.
In this spirit, the PROmocion CLAretiana para el DEsarollo (PROCLADE PILIPINAS)—the non-profit arm of the Claretian Missionaries in the Philippines— has joined hands with dedicated partner organizations in a series of urgent initiatives to bring hope and compassion.

A Christmas Invitation: Being a Channel of Hope and Compassion

As the Christmas season approaches, we are called to look beyond our own celebrations and remember the profound message of Pope Leo XIV in Dilexi Te: that our faith is made real through concrete acts of compassion for the most vulnerable. It is a season not just for receiving, but for becoming extensions of God’s care to those who need it most.

In this spirit, PROCLADE PILIPINAS—the non-profit arm of the Claretian Missionaries in the Philippines— has joined hands with dedicated partner organizations in a series of urgent initiatives to bring hope and compassion.

We are inviting you to be a channel of hope for two specific groups: those recovering from the devastation of recent calamities, and those living on the margins of our society.

A. AN INVITATION TO DONATE: We seek your support for our disaster response and preparedness efforts:

1. OPLAN GINHAWA: A Claretian Response of Hope for survivors of Typhoon Tino and Super Typhoon Uwan.
Our Solidarity and Mission (SOMI) team is currently mobilizing to assist families in Panay, Catanduanes, and Pilar Island (Camotes, Cebu). These communities are struggling to rebuild their lives in the wake of the recent typhoons. Your donation will directly fund:
• Shelter Assistance for families who have lost their homes.
• Psychosocial Support to aid in trauma recovery.
• Agricultural & Livelihood Restoration to help communities regain their dignity and self-sufficiency.
• Christmas Food Packs to share sustenance and solidarity during this challenging season.

2. #𝗗𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 in partnership with Engineers for Genuine Change in UP (ENGAGE UP).
This initiative marks the second phase of Kalingang Isko’t Iska. Beyond immediate relief, this is aimed to strengthen family resilience for the future. Your support will provide Emergency Go-Bags and fund practical learning sessions on disaster preparedness. You may check this link for more details: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1F1MsAvS3M/ .

In the wake of Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) and Super Typhoon Uwan (Fung-wong), many of our brothers and sisters were left struggling to rebuild their lives.

Through the generous support of collaborators and benefactors to OPLAN GINHAWA, the SOLIDARITY and MISSION Team of the Claretian Missionaries in the Philippines and Proclade-Pilipinas were able to mobilize an immediate response. We focused our efforts on the most vulnerable, specifically those whose homes were destroyed.

We are pleased to report that the donations we have received translated into tangible relief for 41 families with totally damaged houses in Panay, Catanduanes. Here is the breakdown of the assistance we were able to provide:
• Financial Assistance: To help families purchase construction materials or other immediate necessities, we distributed cash grants based on the severity of their needs.
o 11 families received Php 5,000.00 each.
o 30 families received Php 2,000.00 each.
• Sustenance and Nutrition: We distributed comprehensive food packs designed to provide distinct relief from hunger. Each pack included:
o 8 kgs of Rice
o 1 kg of Pork
o 1 Tray of Eggs
o Assorted essential grocery items
• Holistic Care: Our team facilitated psychosocial and spiritual interventions, providing a space for survivors to process their trauma, find strength in their faith, and regain their sense of dignity because we know that rebuilding requires more than just materials.

Thank you for being a true channel of ginhawa (comfort). Your contribution has truly become a breath of God’s love to those who needed it most.

A big thank you to the following (partial list) for their kindness and generosity

Statement of Cardinals, Bishops, and Catholic Organizations Gathered for COP30 and the Peoples’ Summit in Belém

From November 10 to November 21, world leaders, negotiators, peoples’ movements, and more traveled to Belém, Brazil, for COP30 and the Peoples’ Summit. Among them is an unprecedented diversity of voices from our Church— lay people, religious sisters and brothers, cardinals, bishops, clergy, pastoral movements, youth organizations, NGOs, and many more—who have sought to amplify what Pope Francis, in Laudato Si’, called the “cry of the earth and the cry of the poor.” Moved by what we have experienced through this COP, we offer this statement to all Catholics and people of good will to join us in a renewed commitment and action to care for our common home.

Ten years after the Paris Agreement and Pope Francis’s call to protect our common home, the world faces more extreme weather and environmental degradation. Hosting COP30 in Brazil, a country where the Church, Indigenous peoples, and social movements have long walked together in defense of life, further strengthened the hope felt throughout the Catholic community. Months before COP30, Catholics began expressing their hopes, concerns, and prayers related to this important conference. On June 12, the Catholic Bishops Conferences of Asia, Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean published a joint statement entitled A Call for Climate Justice and the Common Home, a powerful appeal for concrete and courageous action from those most affected by the climate crisis. Similarly, Catholic movements and organizations dialogued together, sharing perspectives and supporting one another.

Catholics arrived at COP30 to discover a spirit of true synodality, walking together, unified in God’s love for the poor and creation. Sharing our time in meals, conference panels, advocacy, the Peoples’ Summit, Masses, and a procession of the Virgem de Nazaré, we encountered a Church ready to speak up alongside people and the planet. We leave with renewed hope, empowered by the witness of the Church and the grace we have experienced together.

In Laudato Si’, Pope Francis, boldly grappling with the reality of climate change, called for an “ecological conversion.” Pope Leo XIV, in a message to those gathered for COP30, wished that “all the participants in this COP30, as well as those actively following its work, be inspired to embrace with courage this ecological conversion in thought and actions, bearing in mind the human face of the climate crisis.”

As we continue this journey of ecological conversion, we ask for the grace to care more tenderly for creation, to walk in deeper solidarity with one another, and to grow in the courage needed to respond faithfully to the urgent challenges of our time, which affect us all, but especially women, youth, migrants, Indigenous peoples, and the most marginalized. As Pope Leo has just reminded us: "We walk alongside scientists, leaders and pastors of every nation and creed. We are guardians of creation, not rivals for its spoils.”

Mabuhay ang ating mga pambansang bayani: ang mga MAGSASAKA!

Happy National Heroes Day! ✨🇵🇭

Today, we remember the names etched in our history—but we also give tribute to the unsung heroes of our daily lives: our farmers. 🌾

They may not wear capes nor hold swords, but with their hands deep in the soil, they fight hunger, sustain communities, and keep the nation alive. 💚

As we celebrate this day of valor, let us also honor and support the silent heroes who feed every Filipino household. 🙌

Salamat, mga magsasaka. Kayo ang tunay na bayani ng bayan. 🌱👩‍🌾👨‍🌾
