1. Marahas na pagbuwag ng welga ng mga manggagawang bukid sa Hacienda Luisita, Sagay, Negros Occidental;

2. Inaresto ng mga elemento ng 334th Company ng Philippine Constabulary (PC) sa limang mga manggagawa sa bayan ng Sagay — Danilo Libre, Pablo Caraat, Romeo Jonson, Pantaleon Tillo, at Teresita Plarisan — upang lumpuhin ang kanilang unyon;

3. Dinukot ng mga militar sa mga manggagawang sina John Seva at Emilio Togonon sa gitna ng isang rali na pinangunahan ng National Federation of Sugar Workers (NFSW);

Ayon sa ulat na ito, na inilathala sa Mayo 1985 issue ng Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) International Bulletin, "Mismanagement of the sugar industry, long controlled by the cronies of President Marcos, have deprived the sugar workers of their only means of subsistence."

"With more than 150,000 sugar workers being displace by the sugar industry crisis," dagdag pa nila, "trouble is, indeed, brewing in the entire Negros island."

A group of Filipino lawyers is seeking to overturn Pablo Manlapit’s conspiracy conviction, a symbolic effort they hope will elevate his place in history.

They say Manlapit’s contributions and Asian American and Pacific Islander history in Hawaii in general still remain relatively unknown across the U.S. mainland.
