Before the establishment of the Diocese of Novaliches on December 7, 2002, dioceses in Metro Manila namely Novaliches, Paranaque, Cubao, Caloocan, and Pasig were just districts under the ecclesiastical territory of the Archdiocese of Manila. The Diocese of Novaliches back then was just known as Quezon City - North District. Our catechetical programs during this time were spearheaded by the Archdio
cese of Manila through the Archdiocesan Catechetical Ministry in 1981 which by 1991 had become the Catechetical Foundation of the Archdiocese of Manila (CFAM) chaired by Msgr. When 2002 came, the Archdiocese of Manila had formed into five new dioceses: Novaliches, Paranaque, Cubao, Caloocan, and Pasig. D.D was appointed as the first bishop of the newly founded Diocese of Novaliches. Notwithstanding the division, the Archdiocese of Manila and the Diocese of Novaliches along with other freshly established dioceses decided to continue to work under the agreement through the unified Inter-Diocesan Catechetical Ministry (ICM). During this time, Rev. Aldema, the appointed Alternate Priest Chairman for Catechesis in 2000 took charge of the ministry until 2005. In 2010, with the endeavor to form catechists from the diocese, the Council of Laity of Novaliches sponsored a scholarship program among youth to study Religious Education in several catechetical centers. Thus in 2016, the diocese has independently hired the graduates from the scholarship program, and a year after, due to the expiration of unified ICM, the diocese absorbed catechists from CFAM who are working in the ecclesiastical territory of Novaliches. On July 4, 2018, the diocesan catechetical ministry was formally and legally established as foundation, by this time, Rev. Aristeo De Leon was the director. And on July 6, 2022, Rev. Eduardo C. Molina was appointed to be the director of the foundation.
