A Friend Who Was Honest, and a Faith That Cost Everything

Today, we celebrate the feast of Saint Bartholomew, one of the Apostles of Jesus. His story serves as a quiet reminder that sometimes a person’s entire life can begin to change with one honest encounter with the Lord.

When Bartholomew first heard about Jesus, he had questions and doubts. He did not simply accept everything he heard. However, when he came to Jesus, he discovered something deeper: Jesus already knew his heart. Bartholomew felt seen and known by the Lord. That encounter opened his heart, and he chose to follow Jesus.

Perhaps this is also where our own story begins. Often, we come to God carrying questions, disappointments, fears, and even doubts. We may pray without feeling anything or wonder why certain things happen in our lives. But Jesus does not turn away from us because of our questions. He patiently meets us where we are and invites us to walk with Him.

Saint Bartholomew teaches us that following Jesus is not about understanding everything. It is about learning to trust Him little by little. It means allowing Him to change the way we see people, the way we speak, the way we forgive, and the way we respond when life becomes difficult.

In our daily lives, this can start with something very simple. Before responding in anger, we can pause. When someone hurts us, we can choose forgiveness. When someone is struggling, we can choose to notice. Even when we are tired or discouraged, we can still offer God a small act of love.

Bartholomew stayed with Jesus and eventually gave his life in faithful service. His life asks us a simple question: What happens when we truly allow Jesus to touch our hearts?

May Saint Bartholomew inspire us to look beyond the noise of everyday life and recognize the quiet presence of Jesus. May our encounter with Him slowly become visible in the way we live, love, forgive, and care for one another.

A Crown of Love, Humility, and Hope

Today, we honor Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth. Her crown is a reward of perfect humility and total surrender to God's will.

Like Mary, may we learn to trust God even when we do not understand His plans, to serve others with love, and to bring hope and peace wherever we go.

+ Prayer +

Mary, our Queen and Mother, you became great because you chose to be humble and always said “yes” to God. Pray for us that we may follow your example, to trust God, obey His will, and serve Him with a humble heart. May our small daily "yes" to God one day bloom into something beautiful in His eyes. Amen.
