𝐓𝐀𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐍 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 — In a historic gathering aimed at shaping the future governance of the church, the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) officially convened its 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐂𝐨𝐧) 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟏-𝟐𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

The youth delegation is led by the CYF National Executive Committee (NEC) and jurisdictional representatives, forming a powerhouse team dedicated to advocating for institutional progress.

Look: CYF at the 5th Asia Ecumenical Youth Assembly via Ecumenical Relations

UCCP - Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) at the 5th AEYA organized by the Christian Conference of Asia in Thailand last April 17-21, 2026.

AEYA is a significant ecumenical gathering of over 200 young Christian leaders across Asia, journeying together under the theme: “Break Every Yoke” (Isaiah 58:6).

Representing the UCCP CYF and one of the Philippine delegation is Mr. Vermil Jearol Rulida, who was also invited by the CCA to serve as a Facilitator for the “Youth in Dialogue” session on Climate Crisis and Ecological Responsibility. He is a member of the National Ecumenical Relations Committee from Bohol Conference Incorporated.

Throughout the assembly, delegates reflected on the systemic “yokes” that burden our region—from economic injustice and human rights violations to the groaning of creation. As a facilitator, he led discussions rooted in the biblical truth that “The earth is the Lord’s” (Psalm 24:1), hearing and navigating stories of different context from different countries of environmental struggle and the urgent call for youth to influence climate policy through faith-based action.

As part of the Philippine delegation, the sharing of our country's situation centered on the struggles of the marginalized and the threats faced by those standing for truth and justice. The presentation highlighted the UCCP’s prophetic witness and the CYF’s commitment to breaking the yokes of oppression through service to the least, the lost, and the last.

In addition to his facilitation role, He actively participated in plenary sessions and reported collective insights on behalf of his group. Guided by the assembly's call to be "Witnesses of Hope in Asia," He intends to bring these ecumenical insights back to the local level, focusing on ecological responsibility and leadership development within the CYF and the ecumenical partners. The goal is to strengthen our response to ecological injustice and ensure that the CYF remain at the forefront of the movement to build a future where every yoke is broken.

Ngayong Araw ng Manggagawa, ang Christian Youth Fellowship ay buong pusong nakikiisa sa pagkilala hindi lamang sa husay at galing ng bawat manggagawa kundi pati sa mga dinanas na hirap at sa mga naipanalong laban sa pagkamit ng mga karapatan at mga batas na tunay na magsusulong sa interes ng manggagawa.

Kamakailan lamang ay gyinera ng US-Israel ang Kanlurang Asya partikular ang Iran na siyang nagdulot ng pagsirit ng presyo ng langis na direktang naapektuhan ang Pilipinas. Ilang linggo pa lamang ang lumipas ngunit ramdam agad ng mga jeepney drayber ang aray. Kaya ang panawagan sa gobyerno ay pagbabasura sa oil deregulation law at pagtanggal sa VAT at Excise Tax, at ang pagnanasyonalisa ng industriya ng langis, Kamakailan lang din ay tagumpay ang strike at welga ng Kowloom House Workers sa kanilang laban na itaas ang kanilang sahod.

Ang nasabing mga panawagan at kailwa’t kanang mga strike at protesta sa mga nakalipas na dekada hanggang sa kasalukuyan ay di maikakakilang bunga ng mga pangaabuso at karahasan sa ating mga manggagawa.

𝐈𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐠𝐚 𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐚 𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐤𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐤𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧. 𝐈𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐮𝐠𝐨, 𝐩𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐬, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚, 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐤𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐨.

Kung kayat mahalaga na tayo bilang mga kristiyano ay makiisa sa pagsulong sa karapatan at hustisyang panlipunan. Ang ating tungkulin ay hindi sa loob lamang ng simbahan bagkus meron tayong misyong makipamuhay sa komunidad at makiisa sa suliranin ng masa.

Kung ating susuriin, di maikakailang noong nagkatawang-tao si Hesus ay nakipamuhay siya sa ating mundo bilang isang manggagawa. At marahil kung nabubuhay si Hesus sa kasalukuyang panahon, isa siya sa mga manggagawang matagal nang iniinda ang mabababang pasahod, hindi maayos na kondisyon sa pinagtatrabahuhan, hindi kinikilala ang karapatan.

Si Hesus ang mukha ng mangagawang pinatay dahil naninindigan laban sa mapangabusong sistema at estado. Si Hesus ang mukha ng maraming mangagawang hindi nakatatanggap ng sapat na ayuda at walang pangkalusugang seguridad sa ilallim ng umiiral na militarisadong pamahalaan.

Kaya ngayong Mayo Uno, makalipas ang mahigit 100 taon nang maisagawa ang unang pagkilala sa araw ng manggagawa ay patuloy pa rin ang panawagan at pakikipaglabaan sa ngalan ng karapatan at katarungan.

𝐇𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐤𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐲𝐨𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐢𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐤𝐞

Habang tuloy-tuloy ang pagtaas ng presyo ng langis dahil sa giyerang agresyon ng US at Israel sa Kanlurang Asya partikular na sa Iran, nananatili ring lumulobo ang kita ng mga dambuhalang kompanya ng langis sa gitna ng krisis. At ang pinakaapektado ay ang ordinaryong Pilipino. Pasan nila sa pangaraw-araw ang bigat. At ang tugon ng gobyerno ay mga panandaliang solusyon gaya ng ayuda. Ngunit hindi ayuda ang sagot kundi konkretong solusyon.

Nananatiling deregulated ang industriya ng langis na siyang nagbibigay ng kalayaan at kapasyahan sa kanila na patuloy na magtaas ng presyo. Ang mga batas sa buwis tulad ng VAT at Excise Tax ay tila asin na matagal ng sugat ng ordinaryong Pilipino.

Malinaw na sa gitna ng krisis, ang tugon ng estado ay band-aid solutions, agresyon, at militarisasyon. Kung kayat malinaw din kung ano dapat ang ating tindig at tugon: singilin at pagbayarin ang korap at atrasadong gobyerno.

Bilang kabataang kristyano, hindi tayo mananahimik kung saan libo-libo nang jeepney drayber ang hindi na pumapasada, milyon na ang nagugutom dahil sa patuloy na pagtaas ng mga bilihin. Ang mga magsasakang nagtatanim ng pagkain ay sila mismo ang walang makain.
Ang mga suliraning ito ay danas nating lahat. Kaya tayo bilang kabataang simbahan ay may obligasyon at responsibilidad na manawagan para sa karapatan, buhay, at kapayapaan. Bilang mga tagasunod ni Kristo, nararapat lang na tutulan ang oil price hike at manawagan para sa batas na magsisilbi sa interes ng ordinaryong Pilipino.

Mga kapatid na CYF, sa darating na Mayo Uno, Araw ng mga Manggagawa, kayo ay inaanyaahan na sumama at makiisa sa mga gaganaping pagkilos sa buong bansa. Bitbitin natin ang ating mga panawagan art panalangin para sa masang api.

Ang krisis sa langis, kontraktwalisasyon, mataas na presyo at mababang pasahod, ang agresyon ng US—lahat ng ito ay hindi kalooban ng Diyos. Kaya ipakita natin ang ating paninindigan at pananampalataya. Ipakita natin ang ating sama-samang pagkilos.

𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐚?

“𝙎𝙚𝙖 𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙤 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚!”

The climate crisis is most experienced by vulnerable countries such as the Philippines. Undeniably, it is further exacerbated by the real culprits—corruption and the huge polluters, the imperialist countries and big corporations.

Climate justice issues are not only ecological but also economic, gender, cultural, psychological, and spiritual. They are intersectional and complex so our response also requires an intersectional and multi-layered approach.

And now, more than ever, the young people within communities of faith are called, to understand through the lens of our faith, the struggles of the most vulnerable to climate change, the Anawim; and to immerse ourselves in the communities towards a deeper and wider prophetic witnessing. And the recently concluded 6th CYF National Youth Camp is a testament to our commitment to becoming champions of climate justice as it served as a platform and an avenue for immersive learning, shared advocacy, and a stronger prophetic discernment.

CYF, the call is strong and clear: 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Let us then continue to use our voice to amplify the calls from the ground! Denounce corruption! Hold big polluters accountable! Let us sustain the struggle towards lasting peace based on justice.
