The liturgy was never meant to be about us.
Pope Benedict XVI warned that when applause breaks out during the Mass because of human achievement, we risk losing sight of the true purpose of worship: giving glory to God.
The Holy Mass is not a performance. It is not entertainment. It is the re-presentation of Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary and our participation in the worship of heaven.
In a world obsessed with personalities, platforms, and applause, the Church calls us back to something greater: reverence, humility, and awe before the living God.
The question isn’t whether we enjoyed Mass.
The question is: Did we encounter Jesus?
