The primary object of the society is to promote due love and reverence for the Holy Name of God and Jesus Christ. The secondary object is to suppress blasphemy, perjury, oaths of any character that are forbidden, profanity, unlawful swearing improper language, and, as far as the members can, to prevent the proliferation of these pernicious vices. lippines was established at the University of Sto. Silvestre Sancho, OP, then Rector of the University. On April 21, 1951, the Holy Name Society received the MANDATE of the Philippine Catholic Hierarchy to operate as a national Catholic Action Organization. On August 2, 1953, the National Directorate of the HNS in the Philippines was organized.
