Linggo ng Palaspas, Linggo ng Pagpapakasakit ng Panginoon

Ngayon ay pinagdiriwang ang Linggo ng Palaspas, ang Linggo ng Pagpapakasakit ng Panginoon. Ang linggong ito bilang simula ng Mahal na Araw, nagsisimula din ang kwento ng kalbaryo at pagsasakripisyo ni Hesus bilang katuparan ng plano ng katubusan. Ang araw na ito ay ang paggunita sa pagdating ni Hesus sa Jerusalem. Siya ay sinalubong ng mga tao ng may hawak na palaspas na nangangahulugan ng pagtanggap sa kanya bilang Panginoon.

Ang pagdiriwang na ito ay paalala sa atin na ang hawak nating palaspas ay hindi lamang isang dahon bilang palamuti, bagkus ito ay sumisimbolo sa ating pagtanggap nang may galak, pag asa at pananampalataya kay Hesukristo bilang ating Panginoon at Tagapagligtas.
