disagreements with love and mercy, and still call one another as brother and sister." - Rev. Fr. Gerald Moscardon

Monday after Pentecost

O God, Father of mercies, whose Only Begotten Son, as he hung upon the Cross, chose the Blessed Virgin Mary, his Mother, to be our Mother also, grant, we pray, that with her loving help your Church may be more fruitful day by day and, exulting in the holiness of her children, may draw to her embrace all the families of the peoples. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Pentecost is not only a moment—it is a fire meant to remain within us.
The Holy Spirit continues to renew, strengthen, and guide the Church each day.
With Mary, Mother of the Church, may we remain open to the Spirit’s presence and live with renewed faith and courage.

The Movement of the Paschal Candle and the Double Alleluia

The conclusion of the Easter season is marked by two profound liturgical shifts on Pentecost Sunday. First, a double Alleluia is woven into the final dismissal of the Mass—a joyful, resonant farewell to the primary theme of the last fifty days. Following this celebration, the Paschal Candle is moved from its prominent place of honor near the altar or ambo and transferred to the baptistery near the baptismal font. This relocation visually signals that the unique season of Easter is complete, and the candle now returns to its standard role, to be lit specifically for baptisms and funerals.

With hearts filled with joy and confident hope, we welcome the presence of Our Lady of Hope as she joins us in the historic Solemn Coronation of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and the first-ever Diocesan Grand Marian Procession on May 31, 2026.

Under the title of Our Lady of Hope, the Blessed Virgin Mary is venerated as the steadfast Mother who remained faithful to God’s promises even in moments of sorrow, uncertainty, and trial. Through her unwavering trust in the Lord, she became a radiant sign of Christian hope for the Church and for all who seek comfort, strength, and perseverance in faith.

As Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Mary continues to lead her children to Jesus, the source of true hope and salvation. In every circumstance of life, she teaches us to trust in God’s mercy, to remain faithful in prayer, and to await with confidence the fulfillment of His promises.

Together with Our Lady of Hope, let us entrust our lives, our families, and our Diocese to the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may become pilgrims of hope and witnesses of Christ’s love in the world.

Our Lady of Hope, pray for us!
