Let us relive AFAA 2026 through these captured moments.
Augustinian friars, sisters, and lay partners gathered at the Sto. Niรฑo Spirituality Center in Tolotolo, Consolacion, for the recently concluded Augustinian Friar-Administrators Academy (AFAA) 2026, a three-day formation event centered on reimagining the future of Catholic education in the Philippines.
Held under the theme โAugustinian Educators: Charting Pathways of Hope in Todayโs Philippine Education,โ the academy brought together education leaders and administrators for a series of reflections, keynote presentations, and shared discussions aimed at strengthening the Augustinian educational mission amid the evolving landscape of Philippine education.
The gathering opened with an Eucharistic celebration, where participants were reminded that the work of forming the young is, at its core, a sacred offering to God. The liturgy set the spiritual tone for the days that followed.
Keynote sessions covered a broad range of themes critical to Catholic school leadership. Participants examined the current realities and opportunities within the Philippine educational system, explored principles of legal stewardship, and deepened their understanding of the distinct identity and mission of Catholic education. Grounding these discussions was a return to St. Augustineโs vision of leadership, one rooted in love, peace, and justice as participation in the work of God.
The academy also addressed the practical dimensions of school administration. Sessions on data-driven decision-making equipped participants with tools to better serve and uplift every learner, while conversations on intergenerational dialogue underscored the importance of bridging experience and fresh perspectives within educational communities.
Deeper reflections on personal and institutional conversion framed the journey of hope as ongoing and lifelong, and a daily commitment. Closing out the formation program was a timely call to champion mental health and well-being, urging leaders to build school communities that are safe, supportive, and genuinely nurturing for all.
For the participants, AFAA 2026, more than a professional development event, was a renewal of a shared resolve to be educators who do not merely teach, but enlighten minds, form hearts, and nurture hope in the next generation.
As AFAA 2026 concluded, participants carried a renewed mission: to chart clear, purposeful pathways of hope for Filipino learners and to continue the Augustinian tradition of education, marked by faith, excellence, and community.
