Shalom Manila

Shalom Manila Founded in Brazil by Moyses Azevedo and Emmir Nogueira. We are the Shalom Catholic Community It was clear that the Lord had higher plans for this "new thing".

The Shalom Catholic Community was established in July 9th 1982 as a result of a life-changing encounter with Pope John Paul II that Moyses Azevedo had 2 years before. Led by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit after this meeting, he and other young people at the time started to work for the evangelization of the youth, the poor and later of all man. The initial idea was to start a snack-bar or coff

ee-shop as a means to reach out the youth. The snack-bar offered not only what was on the menu but this was always followed by an invitation to come to Mass, to a prayer group, to receive spiritual counselling and prayer and many other christian social activities in the house. Not only the youth but their families and friends begun to feel more an more attracted to God and to His Church. The work started to bear many many fruits. The lives of those who were touched by it started to change. Soon, there were a lot of people involved and committed to spread the Good News of the Gospel. Always with the blessings and spiritual support of its local Archbishop. Later, some of its member felt a deeper call to commit themselves entirely to this work of evangelization as lay people. Soon the first members had their official promise to consecrate their lives for this purpose in a solemn commitment before the Church. It was just the beginning of something bigger than them...

New fronts of evangelization was developed through out the years. Works in social field, health care, in promoting human dignity, in arts & culture towards the youth, children, families, society's builders and so. What had started in Fortaleza city, Capital of Ceara State (Brazil) have now widen up and reached out the World. The Shalom Catholic Community is now present in many cities and Countries such as: Brazil, Italy, Rome, France, Switzerland, Argelia, Tunisia, Canada, Chile, Montevideo, Israel, Madagascar, Portugal, French Guiana, United Kingdom and others. It has over than 5,000 members and more than 30,000 participate in its activities through prayer groups and other works. After a long process of spiritual, human and ecclesiastic growth and after understanding more and more the new path the Lord has envisioned for them, in 1998 the Community received Canonical recognition from the Archbishop of Fortaleza. It became a member of the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic, Covenant Communities and Fellowships. In 2007 the Community received its pontifical recognition by the Holy See as an International Association of the Faithful being thus recognized worldwide by Mother Church. In May 2012, Pope Benedict XVI, through the Pontifical Council for the Laity, granted the Definitive Approval of Shalom Catholic Community's Statutes as the Community celebrated its 30th Anniversary. The Church is saying to us "Go! Go and spread the Gospel throughout the World! Reach the heart and soul of all men who suffers because they don't know Christ!".

GOD IS MERCIFUL AND COMPASSIONATE

"Then Jesus said, Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin anyone." John 8:11

The Lord looks at the person, not only at the sin. He does not condemn us, but calls us to true conversion. He treats the wounds of man with love and compassion, granting His forgiveness.

Whoever experiences this forgiveness is transformed, learns to love more, and before looking at others, examines himself.

This was a little of our experience in our prayer group today!

See you at our next Shalom Prayer Group!🙏🏿😉

The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, sent a message to the participants of the Halleluya Festival (Festival Halleluya ).

Every year in Brazil, the Shalom Catholic Community (Comunidade Católica Shalom ) organizes Halleluya, Latin America's largest Catholic festival of music, art, and culture whose primary mission is to evangelize.
For five days, thousands of people gather to celebrate through music, art, praise, adoration, Holy Mass, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This year, around 1 million people attended the festival.

In his message to the young people, Pope Leo XIV reminded them that each person possesses a “missionary vigor indispensable for transforming this world” and encouraged them never to lose this missionary zeal.

GOD IS LOVE

Yes, God is Love! And love bears all things, believes all things, accomplishes all things, and only love is capable of lifting us up when we fall. Only love remains—only His love.

And where can we find this love?

Whether in the silence of a simple prayer, in the study of the Bible, in a song, in the Holy Eucharist, in a prayer group, or even in the midst of challenges and fears, for He Himself said: “Do not be afraid for I am with you.”

We look forward to seeing you at our next Shalom Prayer Group! 😉

You are part of this story!

Today, we celebrate not only the offering of one person or an event from the past. We celebrate the day when God's will was revealed among us and through us.
From the simple and generous offering of one young man, a work was born that continues to reach hearts. Today, that same offering reaches every young person, every family, every priest, consecrated celibate, every child, every adult, every man and every woman throughout the world.
Thank You, Lord, for these 44 years!
Thank You for every life offered for the evangelization of the peoples.
Thank You for revealing Your will in our midst.
Thank You, Lord, for choosing us!

YOU ARE PRECIOUS!

This weekend, we began the "You Are Precious" course in Kibugan and Palina, Benguet.
During the course, we reflected on the importance of remembering that we are created in the image and likeness of God, and therefore our lives are precious to the One who created us.

We also celebrated Father's Day and reflected on the beauty and importance of fatherhood. Fathers have the mission to care for, protect, educate, and pass on values to their children, making visible the love of God the Father through their lives.

Today we began the first day of our prayer group. We experienced moments of fellowship, Bible study, and sharing. We reflected on the Gospel of Luke 19:1-10, the encounter between Jesus and Zacchaeus. An encounter with a gaze of Mercy that shows us how Salvation came to Zacchaeus and how Salvation has come to us today.
Yes, today Salvation came to our home!_

_We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!_
