The four tests that were used to make a Book Canonical

The New Testament grew under a more strenous discipline.Each book got almost separate review.It went down the line of the Christian Churhes.It was eyed by individuals,bishops,church officials,and whole congregation.Some books had a harder time getting recognition than others (Hebrews,James,2 Peter,2 and 3 John, Revelation).
Other books appeared ( 1 Clement,Didache,
Epistle of Barnabas,Shepherd of Hermas,Apocalypse of Peter),they failed to endure the test and final recognition.By the close of the second century the same books which we receive at the present were regarded as " in ".

Books that were to stay in the canon passed four general tests:

1.They must be written by an Apostle or one who was close enough to an Apostle that he wrote like one.
2.They must have sufficient spiritual content to entitle them to the high rank.
3.They must be universally read and received in the Church.
4.They must convince people and clergy alike that they were inspired.

Large Church councils were not the deciding factors.They simply voiced the already existing wish of the majority of the Christian community.

The word "INSPIRATION" of the Bible

God made sure that when He gave His written record to mankind,it was srupulously protected.
It was no difficult task to God.To us it is a work of amazing and miraculous collaboration between human beings and the Almighty.For although God used sinful,fallible vessels,He brought forth divine writings,the whole of which we now called the Bible.The means by which He produced this divine 66-in-one volume is a process known as "Inspiration."

The word "Inspiration" as it is used in Scripture is "Ģod-breathed." The two words making up the English are taken from tye Greek "theopneustos" a combination of God and to blow.The word actually is found only twice in the Bible,once in Job 32:8 and once in 2 Tim.3:16.
In 2 Tim.3:16 we find the basic statement for the doctrine of the inspiration of the Bible.
All Sriptures are given by inspiration of God,and is profitable for doctrine,for reproof,for correction,for instruction in righteousness.

When we say the Bible is inspired, we mean that the Bible,both Old and New Testaments,is the word of God and was written by the hands of human instruments under the direct supervision of the Holy Spirit,without error in the original manuscripts.

The Seven Blesseds In The Revelation

The book is called sometimes the Revelation and sometimes the Apocalypse.Apokalupsis is composed of two parts."Apo" means away from and "Kalupsis" a veiling.Apokalupsis,therefore, means an unveiling,a revealing.

1.The man who reads these words is blessed (1:3).The reader here mentioned is not the private reader but the man who publicly reads the word in the presence of the congregation.
The reading of Scriptures was the center of any Jewish service (Luke 4:16;Acts 13:15).We may call it the blessedness of reading,hearing,and obeying the word of God.

2.Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord (14:13).We may call it the blessedness in heaven of Christ's friends on earth.

3.Blessed is he who is awake,keeping his garments (16:15).We may call it the blessedness of the watchful pilgrim.

4.Blessed are those who are invited in the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (19:9).We may call it the the blessedness of the invited guests of God.

5.Blessed is he who shares in the first resurrection (20:6).We may call it the blessedness of the man whom death cannot touch.

6.Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book (22:7).We may call it the blessedness of the wise reader of God's word.

7.Blessed are those who do his commandments (22:14).We may call it the blessedness of those who hear and obey.
Such blessedness is open to every Christian.

TITLES and CLAIMS of the RISEN CHRIST
(Rev.3:7-13)

1.He is He who is Holy.Holy is the description of God Himself.Holy,holy,holy,is the Lord of hosts,was the song of the seraphs which Isaiah heard (Isa.6:3).To whom then will you compare me,that I should be like him says the Holy One (Isa.40:25).I am the Lord,your Holy One the creator of Israel,your King (Isa.43:15).
All through the Old Testanent God is the holy one and now that title is given to the risen Christ.We must remember that holy (hagios) means different,separate from God is holy because He is different from men;He has the quality of being which belongs to Him alone.
To say that Jesus Christ is Holy is to say that He shares the being of God.

2.He is He who is True.In Greek there are two words for true.There is ' alethes ' which means true in the sense that is true statement is different from false statement.There is 'alithenos' which means real as opposed to that which is unreal.It is the second of these words which is used here.In Jesus is reality.When we are confronted with Him,we are confronted with no shadowy outline of the truth but with the truth itself.

3.He is He who has the Key of David,who opens and no man will shut,who shuts and no man opens.We may first note that the key is the symbol of authority.Here is the picture of Jesus Christ as the one who has the final authority which no one can question.

The Doctrines Of Sovereign Election And Predestination (Part 1)

The Bible clearly teaches the doctrines of Sovereign Election and Predestination of the saved by the Almighty God.There are those today who are misusing this very truth in order to discredit and deny the absolute sovereignty of God in the salvation of sinners,just as higher critics are repudiating the divine inspiration of the Scriptures;evolutionists the work of God in Creation;so some false Bible teachers are perverting His foreknowledge in order to set aside His unconditional election unto eternal life.
The Bible definitely teaches predestination and election,clearly stating that God has from eternity elected a company who will be saved and spend eternity in heaven.We approach the subject,therefore,with a prayer that we may use this doctrine very clearly and that He may give those who read an opened mind and faith to believe what God has to say.

The Bible states that the believer was foreknown of God (Rom.8:29).The Greek term for foreknowledge is "proegno." The literal meaning of the word denotes properly,to know beforehand,;to be acquainted with future events.The term also implies Fixity and Fixity implies Decree.From eternity God foresaw all events in the universe as fixed and certain.This fixity could have its ground only in the plan and purpose of God.If God foresaw the future as certain,it must have been because He had decreed it.Foreknowledge is not of possible events,but of what is certain to be.The certainty of future events which He foreknew could have had its ground only in His decree.

God foreknew Calvary because He decreed that Christ would die according to His will and counsel.Foreknowledge is never used in Scripture in connections with events or actions;instead it always has reference to persons.It is persons,God is said to "foreknow" not the actions of those persons.
Scripture never speaks of repentance and faith as being foreseen or foreknown by God.The word uniformly refers to God's foreknowing persons.God foreknows because He has decreed what shall be.
God does not want anybody to be lost (2 Pet.3:9).NO ONE IS PREDESTINED TO BE LOST.God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked.Why do you choose to die? It is left to your own choice.You may choose to live or you may choose to die.God does not want you to die.If you go and die in sin and away from God,it is because of your own wicked choice of the will.All the Election and Predestination as far as the doctrine of Election goes in the Bible is about Christians,never about the lost.
The Bible often speaks of people elected for Heaven: it never speaks of anybody who is elected to hell.The only people that God predestinates to be saved are those whom He did foreknow.

Paul's voyage to Rime is often referred to as illustration of predestination and the connection between meabs and ends.The Apostle Paul had been warned by an Angel of God that of the two hundred abd seventy six persons on board the ship,he said to the centurion and to the soldiers,except these abide in the ship ye cannot be saved.The safe deliverance of all on board the storm-tossed vessel was the predestinated event,but it could not be accomplished unless the shipmen remained in their position and performed tgeir duty.We see that neans are predestinated as well as end and that ends cannot bevaccomplished without the use of means.
God,therefore,in predestinating the Salvation of His people,predestined their repentace and faith and all other means necessary to their salvation.

But some inquire:What will become of those elected to eternal life if they do not repent and believe? It is best to answer by asking what would have becomevof the persons in the ship with Paul if the shipmen have not remained in their posts of duty? It is said that the shipmen did remain,I say,those chosen to salvation will repent.

The Method Cain Used To Kill His Brother

Not as Cain,who was of that wicked one,and slew his brother.And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil,and his brother's rigtheous. 1 John 3:12

Cain "was that of wicked one." The words "wicked one" are the translation of poneros, "evil in active opposition to the good." An evil (kakos) man is willing to perish in his own corruption.
But a wicked (poneros) person seeks to drag everyone else down with himself into the corruption and destruction that awaits him.That is Satan.
The word "slew" is sphazo, "to slay,slaughter,
butcher,,by cutting the throat." It was used in classical Greek of slaughtering victims for sacrifice by cutting the throat,of any slaughter by knife,or sword. It is used in the LXX (Greek translation of the Old Testament), of the slaying of the Levetical sacrifices ( Lev.1:5).Cain cut his brother's throat.
God said to Cain, "what hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto Me from the ground" (Gen.4:10).The method Cain used to kill his brother was one in which much blood would be shed.The human race learned how to kill when it was taught to slay a sacrifice animal as it approached a holy God (Gen.3:21).

Cain's works are described as evil.The same word (poneros) is used when the devil is spoken of as the wicked one."

The Four kinds of Fools in Proverbs

Carefully look over the characteristics of the four types.Do any of them apply to you?
Are you headed for any of these?

1.The Simple.This person can't tell the difference between truth and falsehood.Because he lacks direction,he is headed for a fail.He is devoid of understanding (Prov.7:7).

2.The Scoffer.This person laughs at wisdom and toys with wickedness.Warned of the consequences of pursuing evil,he says, "It won't happen to me." He refuses to listen to rebuke (Prov.13:1).

3.The Arrogant.This person willfuly ignores wisdom and lives unto himself.He has no interest in whether something is good or bad All that matters is,"What's in it for me." He hates knowledge (Prov.1:22).

4.The Rebel.This person actually hates wisdom,he has totally rejects it that he could be said to be an aggresive unbeliever.He despises wisdom and instruction (Prov.1:7).

Proverbs describes one kind of fool as a person who makes poor choices about how and where to invest his life (Prov.14:24) from beginning to end,he trades the most valuable things that he has for the most worthless.

PREACHING TO SPIRITS IN PRISON (1Peter 3:18-19)

These passages tell us that immediately following the moment of death comes judgment (Heb.9:27).There is no possibility of redemption beyond death's door (Luke 16:19-31).We can say with certainty then that 1Peter 3:18-19 doesn't suggest people can respond to the gospel after they die.

Many Evangelical Scholars believe that the " spirits in prison " mentioned in verse 19 are fallen angels who grievously sinned against God.The idea is that these fallen angels of Gen.6:1-6 who were disobedient to God mentioned in 2 Peter 2:4-5 and Jude 6.
According to this interpretation,these evil angels disobeyed God,left their first estate (they forsook their proper realm),and entere into sexual relations with human women.

The Greek word for "preach" (kerusso)is not the word used for preaching the gospel,but rather refers to a proclamation,as in a proclamation of victory.It is clear that the verse has nothing whatsoever to do with human spirits hearing and responding to the gospel in the afterlife.

He that overcometh,the same shall be clothed in white raiment and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life (Rev.3:5).

The message is to the Church of Sardis and most of them are spiritually dead (Rev.3:1) and their names would not stand therefore with God.The passage (Rev.3:5) is really a promise to the overcomer not a warning.
The overcomer is the genuine believer (1 John 5:4-5).The passage never says,I will blot out,but I will not never blot out.The overcomer (all true) believers cannot have his name blotted out from the Lamb's Book because he is accepted in the beloved,and safe and secured,and will reign with Christ.The Bible has zero warnings that Salvation can be lost.

You cannot have eternal life without resurrection life.Notice how Jesus combined them.

And this is the will of Him that sent me,that everyone seeth the Son,and believeth on Him,may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day (Jn.6:42).

Denial of the of the resurrection strips the gospel message of its necessary content.
Paul also argued:and if Christ be not raised,your faith is vain,you are yet in your sins.
Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished ( 1Cor.15:17-18).The gospel message includes both the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.It is impossible to become a Christian without believing that Jesus rose from the grave in a real body that was seen and touched by many (1 Cor.15:3-11).

A crucified,nonresurrected Christ cannot save anyone.Paul then sounded the triumphant note: "But now is Christ risen from the dead,and become the firstfruits of them that slept (1Cor.15:20).Jesus did rise from the dead,therefore,we too will rise from the dead.

THE THREE KINDS OF MEN

Paul described three kinds of men who bear three different relationships to the spirit of God and to spiritual truth.
The first type of man is the natural man.He is soulish (psuchikos,Greek) person.He is unsaved and fits totally within the description of the unregenerate man.Because the Spirit of God does not indwell,he does not have the capacity to receive dpiritual truth.Paul wrote, " But the natural man receiveth not the things of God :for they are foolishness unto him:neither can he know them,because they are spiritually discerned." (1Cor.2:14)

The second type of man is the spiritual man.He is a saved man who not only possesses the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit but who also is totally yielded to Him.But he that is spiritual judgeth all things all things,yet he himself is judged of no man (1 Cor.2:15).Any christian can be spiritual if he wants to be.
Spirituality is not based upon the length of time one has been a christian,but rather upon his momentary relationship to the Holy Spirit.

The third type of person is the carnal man.He is a fleshly person (sarkinos, Greek).He is saved addressed as brethren in 1 Cor.3:1).He has the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit,but he is dominated by the sinful desires of his inner self.His behavior is similar to that of the ordinary,unsaved man.

For ye are yet carnal;for whereas there is among you envying,and strife,and divisions,are ye not carnal,and walk as men (1 Cor.2:3:3).

The carnal christian is capable of doing the very same things as the unsaved man does because he is not walking in the Spirit.

WHICH ONE IS THE TRUE CHURCH OF CHRIST?

In Matt.16:18,the Lord said, " Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church."
The Scripture did not say, "Upon you Peter."
He only said, "Upon this Rock." If you are speaking with a priest and are familiar with New Testament Greek show how impossible for the Lord to have referred to Peter.

Christ said, "Thou are Petros and upon this Petra I will build my church.The first Petros,meaning Peter is a masculine and singular noun.It signifies a small stone.The second Petra is a feminine and plural noun.It signifies a huge boulder or cliff.
Paul used the latter word "Petra" when speaking of Christ as the rock in 1 Cor.10:4.

The most satisfactory explanation is to show the meaning of the passage as given by the apostles themselves: Acts 4:11; 1Cor.3:10-11;10:4;Eph.2:20-22; 1Pet.2:4-8.These men never spoke or wrote of anyone but Christ as the cornerstone on which the Church would be built.Even the Old Testament believers looked to the Lord as the Rock (Deut.32:4,31;2 Sam.22:3,47; Psalm 78:35).

*Peter was not qualified to lead the Church,(see Matt.16:23; and 26:75;Gal.2:11-14).
*Peter held the same rank as many others(1 Pet.5:1-5).
*Peter was an evangelist to the jews in areas around Jerusalem and not a pope in Rome(Gal.2:7-8).
*Instead of issuing orders,Peter was ordered by others(Acts 8:14).
*Peter forbade people to kneel before him(Acts 10:26).
*Peter was married(Matt.8:14-15).
CHRIST CHOOSE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO TAKE HIS PLACE ON EARTH AND NOT PETER(JOHN 16:7-16).
