Life is full of plans. We plan our studies, our careers, our families, and even the smallest details of our day. Planning is good, but if we are honest, it often leaves us feeling restless. We map out the future with determination, yet we quickly realize how little control we truly have. This is why Proverbs 16:3 speaks with such clarity and comfort. It calls us to take the very plans we hold so tightly and commit them to the Lord.
The word ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ช๐ต here carries the sense of rolling something heavy onto someone stronger. It paints a picture of surrender: taking the full weight of our ambitions, fears, and responsibilities and laying them in Godโs hands. This act is not laziness, nor is it neglect of our duty. Rather, it is a partnership. We are still called to study, to work, to plan wisely, but we do so with hearts that say,
Throughout Scripture, God confirms this invitation. The apostle Peter later reminds us to humble ourselves by Each of these passages calls us not to walk burdened and anxious, but to walk in faith and peace,
But committing our plans does not mean everything will unfold exactly as we imagine. Sometimes God redirects our steps, as He did with Paul in Acts 16, closing doors to open better ones. At other times, He asks us to wait, teaching us patience and dependence. True commitment means trusting not only when God agrees with our plans, but also when He changes them.
And this is where obedience enters in. To commit our plans to the Lord is not only to trust Him with the outcome but also to follow Him in the process. Obedience proves the sincerity of our commitment. When we seek first the kingdom of God, as Matthew 6:33 teaches, and live in alignment with His Word, Obedience is the daily act of saying yes to Godโs wisdom even when it challenges our own understanding.
When we surrender and obey in this way, we find that success is no longer measured merely by achievements or milestones. Instead, success becomes walking faithfully with God, living in trust and obedience. This is what pleases Him, and this is what brings true peace. ๐ฃ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐ฐ:๐ฒโ๐ณ assures us that when we pray, surrender, and walk in His will, His peace will guard our hearts and minds.
In a world that pressures us to control everything, Proverbs 16:3 offers peace. We are not abandoned to figure out life on our own.
