Good day Youth for Christ
The past weeks since the year started, a lot of natural occurrences transpired. An eruption of Taal Volcano in the Philippines began on January 12, 2020. While the whole ministry was one in sympathizing with and extending help to the areas affected, a close monitoring was consistently done since this is an alarming news for the biggest event of the ministry come April. With the blessing of our local CFC partners in Laguna together with the Local Government Unit, we continued with the preparations and our daily mission endeavors ensuring all will be ready in time for our International Conference.
However, not long after that, while the whole country is still recovering from the Taal Tragedy, the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (nCoV) broke in public and the Department of Health in the Philippines has been leading the country’s response in this outbreak. The ministry continued to do its part of reminding everyone especially the delegates of this year’s ICon on the steps to avoid and protect ourselves from being affected by the virus especially when they arrive here in the Philippines. As the weeks passed the number of people affected by the virus is continuously rising, confirmed and under observation alike.
Today we wish to give you all a prompt response and clarity to all the questions regarding our International Conference this year. The recovery of the country from the Taal tragedy and the response to put an end in the nCoV outbreak will take more time than we hoped it would. With this, it is with a heavy heart that the ministry, together with the Couples for Christ International Council as our mission shepherds, decided to cancel the 2020 Youth for Christ International Conference on April. In as much as we wish to push through with the conference given that a lot have already made arrangements with registration and transportation and with the team, with the support of CFC Laguna, who has been pouring their hearts out to give you the best Icon experience, your safety and security will always be our top priority.
To all those who already registered for the conference, your registration fee will be fully refunded. Please be guided by the memo that will be sent to your mission heads.
We are one in sympathizing with all of you in this heart breaking news but we wish to invite everyone to see through this trying times. Let us continue to intensify our prayer life and ask God to continue to protect us from any form of danger and diseases. We pray that all these International crises may end soon.
