I have to admit, I always wondered what this part of Psalm 23 meant. I thought “He anoints my head with oil” was figurative language for God keeping the Psalmist healthy. I never knew this parallel.

Anoint my head with oil

“Sheep can get their head caught in briers and die trying to get untangled. There are horrid little flies that like to torment sheep by laying eggs in their nostrils which turn into worms and drive the sheep to beat their head against a rock, sometimes to death. Their ears and eyes are also susceptible to tormenting insects. So the shepherd anoints their whole head with oil. Then there is peace. That oil forms a barrier of protection against the evil that tries to destroy the sheep. Do you have times of mental torment? Do the worrisome thoughts invade your mind over and over? Do you beat your head against a wall trying to stop them? Have you ever asked God to anoint your head with oil? He has an endless supply! His oil protects and makes it possible for you to fix your heart, mind, and eyes on Him today and always! There is peace in the valley! May our good good Father anoint your head with oil today so that your cup overflows with blessings! God is good and He is faithful!!”

Nakikita Ba ang Diyos?

Tumingin ako sa kalangitan
Para isigaw ang aking kahilingan.
Sa sigaw ng aking puso,
Para ramdam hanggang buto.

Bakit? Bakit? Ang sakit!
Mundo ko'y malupit!
Saan ako lalapit?
At kanino ako kakapit?

Sabi ni lola,
"Apo, magtiwaka ka
Sa ating Maylikha."
At ako'y napaluha.

Sunud-sunod na sakit ang kumirot sa puso ko.
May nang-iwan at ako'y kinalimutan.
Mayroon ding di tumupad sa pangakong kanyang binitiwan.
At marami pang hapdi dulot ng nakaraan.

Mayroon din mga taong mapanira
Kung umasta, itrato akong basura.
Dahil ba ako'y mahirap lang
O sadyang ang mundo ay mapanlinlang?

Ngayon, ako'y nagmamakaawa
Sa ating Diyos na Lumikha.
Na sana ako'y laging bantayan
At ilayo sa kawalan.

Sinikap kong hanapin ang Maykapal
At mabuhay na puno ng pagmamahal.
Hindi ko man siya nakikita
Ay ramdam ko ang kanyang presensiya.

Kahit gaano kasakit ang nakaraan,
Magulo man ang kasalukuyan,
O walang kasiguraduhan ang kinabukasan..
Tayong lahat, kanyang sinusubukan.

Ang Diyos na mabait.
O Diyos na di mapagkait.
Ang Diyos na mapagmahal.
O Diyos na banal.

Pagmasdan ang haring araw.
Lulubog sa kanluran
At sisikat sa silangan.
Paulit-ulit ng walang hanggan.

Namangha ka rin ba sa pagkabuo ng ulan?
Na tila ibinuhos mula pa sa kalangitan?
Tubig na nagbibigay-buhay
Sa lahat ng bagay.

Isang palaisipan kung paano ang mga bagay sa kalawakan
Ay napananatili ang mga planeta at mga bituin na di mag-umpugan.
Dahil nga ba sa paliwanag ng siyensya
O sadyang may Makapangyarihang Kamay na Siyang may likha?

Nakikita ko ang Diyos sa bawat pagsikat at paglubog ng araw.
Nakikita ko ang Diyos sa bawat pagbuhos ng ulan.
Nakikita ko rin ang Diyos sa mga nagniningning na mga bituin.
At sa mga planetang patuloy sa pag-ikot.

Naririnig ko ang Diyos sa bawat awit ng mga ibon.
Ganun din sa bawat iyak ng batang nagugutom.
Ramdam ko ang Diyos sa bawat ngiti.
Ganun din sa mapinsalang buhawi.

Sa mundong ating ginagalawan
Bawat bagay ay may sinusundan.
Na Siyang nagpapanatili sa lahat
Ng kaayusan na siyang dapat.

Hindi man nakikita sa ating mga mata,
Sa mga puso natin, ramdam natin Siya.
Ang ating pamilya at ang ating buhay,
Ang patotoo na Siya ay sadyang tunay.

For those who tend to read the Bible by parts only...
you will never read and understand the right interpretation of the Scriptures as a whole.

So don't be such a "hypocrite" as if you fully understand the Scriptures by preaching that it is wrong "to judge" --- instead, preach to those who are sinners like ourselves to repent and turn to Jesus.

Heavenly Father, You are our hiding place from the storm and the rain. You are our shelter and our covering. We ask You for preservation from this raging tempest. Please keep all those in the path of this storm safe and defend their homes from damage. Bring peace and protection and provision, we ask. Thank You for Your great compassion and mercy for Your children. Amen
