Be gentle on how you speak. The hurt you may cause others may be worse than what you've thought.

It's quite inevitable to take pleasure in hearing others' faults. What's worse, you may have the tendency to compliment the conversation. Since you could never blame or incriminate yourself, you justify your wrong acts by delighting in the same faults others had committed. This is the common efficient cause of self-righteousnes. Condemn the sin but never the sinner. Avoid judging as you may have not known the painful struggles your pitiable subject had undergone. Whatever you heard keep them in your heart and let your consoling words be lent to the ears of your confreres by inviting them, instead, to help the person, or by the least, pray for the person. You'll be gaining self-respect instead, and that same respect will be given back to you by others. You will even become a sanctuary for many desolate hearts to confide, as who would ever trust you then if you make yourself a courier of others' mistakes. Know that everytime you point a finger to someone, the other three point back at you.
