LOOK || MILITARY BISHOP APPOINTS NEW CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMISSION ON CLERGY
Quezon City, Philippines – His Excellency, Most Rev. Oscar Jaime L. Florencio, D.D., STh.D., Military Bishop of the Philippines, has appointed Rev. Fr. (MAJ) Alfredo G. Era, CHS, Chaplain of Clark Air Base, as Chairman of the Commission on Clergy of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines (MOP), effective 01 May 2026.
As Chairman of the Commission on Clergy, Fr. Era will assist the Military Bishop in matters concerning the welfare, ongoing formation, spiritual development, fraternity, and pastoral support of the clergy serving within the Military Ordinariate. The Commission plays a vital role in promoting the well-being of chaplains and priests assigned to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, and civilian pastoral ministries under the Ordinariate.
The appointment reflects the Military Bishop’s confidence in Fr. Era’s leadership, pastoral experience, and commitment to priestly ministry. Through this responsibility, he is expected to help strengthen priestly communion, support clergy formation initiatives, and advance programs that foster the spiritual and pastoral effectiveness of the Ordinariate’s clergy.
