Quezon City, Philippines – His Excellency, Most Rev. Oscar Jaime L. Florencio, D.D., STh.D., Military Bishop of the Philippines, has appointed Rev. Fr. (MAJ) Alfredo G. Era, CHS, Chaplain of Clark Air Base, as Chairman of the Commission on Clergy of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines (MOP), effective 01 May 2026.

As Chairman of the Commission on Clergy, Fr. Era will assist the Military Bishop in matters concerning the welfare, ongoing formation, spiritual development, fraternity, and pastoral support of the clergy serving within the Military Ordinariate. The Commission plays a vital role in promoting the well-being of chaplains and priests assigned to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, and civilian pastoral ministries under the Ordinariate.

The appointment reflects the Military Bishop’s confidence in Fr. Era’s leadership, pastoral experience, and commitment to priestly ministry. Through this responsibility, he is expected to help strengthen priestly communion, support clergy formation initiatives, and advance programs that foster the spiritual and pastoral effectiveness of the Ordinariate’s clergy.

LOOK || MOP CLERGY TO GATHER FOR ANNUAL RETREAT IN ILOILO

Quezon City, Philippines – The Military Ordinariate of the Philippines (MOP), under the leadership of His Excellency, Most Rev. Oscar Jaime L. Florencio, D.D., STh.D., has announced the conduct of the Annual MOP Clergy Retreat from 13-18 July 2026 in Iloilo Province.

The retreat will gather chaplains and priests serving the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, and civilian clergy of the Ordinariate for a week of prayer, reflection, spiritual renewal, and priestly fraternity. the retreat aims to strengthen the spiritual life of the clergy and deepen their commitment to the pastoral mission of serving the men and women in uniform and their families. The Military Bishop encouraged all chaplains and priests to participate actively in this important annual gathering, emphasizing the value of spiritual nourishment, communion among clergy, and renewed dedication to the mission of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines.

LOOK || MOP CONSTITUTES TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP FOR 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Quezon City, Philippines – In preparation for the 40th Anniversary of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines (MOP), His Excellency, Most Rev. Oscar Jaime L. Florencio, D.D., STh.D., Military Bishop of the Philippines, has formally constituted the Technical Working Group (TWG) that will oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of activities for the milestone celebration under the theme, “MOP@40: Renewing Faith-filled Mission and Serving with Gratitude and Compassion.”

Through an official appointment issued by the Office of the Military Bishop, Rev. Fr. (COL) Carlito Buslon, CHS (GSC), was designated as Chairman of the TWG, together with chaplains, clergy, and lay collaborators representing the various uniformed services and sectors under the Military Ordinariate. The TWG is tasked to develop and implement programs, coordinate with stakeholders, oversee logistics, ensure proper documentation and promotion of activities, monitor progress, and provide regular updates to the Office of the Military Bishop in preparation for the anniversary celebration.

As part of its mandate, the TWG will also spearhead resource mobilization efforts and coordinate with benefactors, lay organizations, religious groups, and pastoral programs to support the various projects and activities associated with the anniversary. Administrative and financial mechanisms, including dedicated project accounts, digital donation platforms, sponsorship programs, and formal solicitation initiatives, will be established to ensure transparency, accountability, and broad participation from the faithful.

The Military Bishop expressed confidence that the TWG will carry out its responsibilities with dedication, collaboration, and a spirit of service, reflecting the mission of the Military Ordinariate to provide pastoral care, evangelization, and spiritual formation to the men and women serving in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, and their families. The MOP@40 celebration is envisioned as a significant occasion of thanksgiving, renewal, and recommitment to the Church’s mission among the uniformed services and the wider community entrusted to the Military Ordinariate.

LOOK || MOP LAUNCHES PREPARATIONS FOR FEAST OF ST. IGNATIUS AND 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Quezon City, Philippines– The Military Ordinariate of the Philippines (MOP), under the leadership of His Excellency, Most Rev. Oscar Jaime L. Florencio, D.D., STh.D., has formally announced the observance of the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola and the commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines (MOP@40) through Circular Letter No. 024-2026.

The celebration, carrying the theme “MOP@40: Renewing Faith-filled Mission and Serving with Gratitude and Mission,” will be held from 22 to 31 July 2026 at the St. Ignatius of Loyola Cathedral, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City. The observance will feature a series of Novena Masses sponsored by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, and civilian and retired clergy, culminating in the Solemn Feast Day Mass on 31 July 2026 to be presided over by Most Rev. Charles John Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines.

The Military Bishop has encouraged all uniformed personnel, civilian employees, retirees, dependents, and devotees to actively participate in this historic milestone celebration, which seeks to strengthen faith, foster unity among the uniformed services, and renew the commitment of the Military Ordinariate to its mission of evangelization, pastoral care, and spiritual service to those who serve the nation.

Quezon City, Philippines – The Military Ordinariate of the Philippines (MOP), through Circular Letter Nos. 023-2026 and 026-2026 issued by His Excellency, Most Rev. Oscar Jaime L. Florencio, D.D., STh.D., Military Bishop of the Philippines, has intensified its pastoral oversight and clergy engagement through scheduled pastoral visitations and ministerial activities across AFP, PNP, PCG, BJMP, BFP, and other uniformed service units. The pastoral visits aim to strengthen pastoral ministry, ensure proper ecclesiastical administration, and foster unity within the Chaplain Service through command engagement, review of sacramental records, consultation with pastoral councils, and assessment of key pastoral priorities, including safeguarding, synodality, stewardship, and mental health through spiritual resilience. These initiatives reflect the Military Ordinariate’s continuing commitment to promoting effective pastoral care, accountability, and the spiritual well-being of uniformed personnel and their families throughout the country.

LOOK || CHAPLAINS TO REPRESENT MILITARY ORDINARIATE IN NATIONAL CLERGY BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Quezon City, Philippines – The Military Ordinariate of the Philippines (MOP), under the leadership of His Excellency, Most Rev. Oscar Jaime L. Florencio, D.D., STh.D., Military Bishop of the Philippines, has officially appointed the members of the MOP Basketball Team that will represent the Ordinariate in the upcoming **National Clergy Basketball League – Archbishop Mulo’s Cup**, scheduled from **29 June to 2 July 2026** in Davao City.

Through Circular Letter No. 026-2026, the Military Bishop designated Rev. Fr. Joel T. Simbajon as Team Manager and Coordinator and Rev. Fr. Rey David G. Loyola as Coach, together with a roster of chaplains and priests from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, and civilian clergy of the Military Ordinariate. The team will proudly represent the Ordinariate in the tournament hosted by the Archdiocese of Davao in celebration of the Feast of St. Peter the Apostle.

The National Clergy Basketball League seeks to strengthen fraternity, wellness, teamwork, and sportsmanship among priests from various dioceses, religious congregations, and ecclesiastical jurisdictions throughout the country. In his directive, Bishop Florencio emphasized that all team members are expected to exemplify discipline, unity, camaraderie, and priestly fraternity, reflecting the values and mission of the Military Ordinariate both on and off the court.

The participation of the Military Ordinariate in this national event underscores its commitment to promoting the holistic well-being of its clergy while fostering stronger bonds of fellowship and collaboration among priests serving the Church in the Philippines.
