Jesus willingly laid it down because He loves you so much.
Before the nails pierced His hands, before the crown pressed into His brow, before the cross stood on Calvary, Jesus already knew the cost. He knew the betrayal, the mockery, the pain, the agonyβand still He chose to stay.
If Jesus had chosen to walk away, we would still be bound by sin, hopeless, condemned, and separated from God. But because He bled, mercy was written over our lives. Because He died, we can truly live. Because He rose again, our story no longer ends in guiltβit ends in grace.
The blood of Jesus was never an accident. It was love in its purest form. Every drop declared, βYou are worth saving.β
Today, may we never grow familiar with the cross. May our hearts never stop trembling at the sacrifice that purchased our redemption. The greatest proof of Godβs love was not spokenβit was poured out on Calvary.
βNo man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.β
β John 10:18 (KJV)
