Dear friends, on this third sunday of Advent, the life and witness of John the Baptist points us to where real JOY comes from.

It is in knowing who we are, and who God really is. Accepting this truth that we are not the “Christ” means that we need not carry our burdens alone because we have a GOOD GOD who fulfills His promises and who is greater than we!

May God grant us the grace of living in this truth and be gifted with the JOY that comes from Him all the days of our lives.

If a friend tells you she is coming and promises to bring you a gift of a whole new sala set or a new entertainment set, what would you do and feel? Normal reaction would probably be: excited, would be busy cleaning, and preparing a sumptuous meal as a welcome.

On this second Sunday of Advent, God promises so much more than that!

In the first reading, we heard that He comes to bring comfort, to do reparation for our guilt, He comes with power and yet like a shepherd He feeds us, takes us in His arms and leads us with care.

In the second letter of St. Peter, he exhorts us, "The Lord does not delay his promise, He is patient with us, wishing no one to perish but come to repentance."

Friends, "If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts."

We need not wait for Christmas to welcome Jesus in our lives. We need not wait to perfectly love Him before we let Him in. Because in end, He is the one who can "make crooked lines straight". Amen.

On this Feast of the Immaculate Conception, like the Blessed Virgin Mary, "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for He has looked with favor on his lowly servant."

I began my mission in Brookside Bagong Silangan in 2010 until 2021. I went bringing nothing but the desire to make Jesus known. But I was greeted with the reality of poverty and the challenge to make Jesus relevant in this context. All through these years, God has guided us to where we are now.

By God's grace, we dared to dream (through the college scholarship), and have been blessed by achieving it. (even with a bonus: board passers)

The journey was far from perfect and yet what matters most is that we survived and triumphed over it by the love and mercy of God!

BYSC members, past and present, know that I am proud of you and I am happy for what you have become. I am not only referring to financial success, but I hope and pray that wherever you are, you are sustained by your relationship with God, and serving and helping those in need. (MABUTING TAO AT MABUTING KRISTIYANO)

Again, I thank our mission partners: KSJ-HOA, SMAS teachers especially Ms. Melody D., Kuya Sai, San Isidro Labrador Parish

FMM sisters, parishes, friends and benefactors especially those you have been part of the yearly caroling and the "Mary Christmas" concert. May God bless you all! Amen.

Today we start a new calendar of the Church with the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is a season of watchfulness and waiting. Therefore, there is someone or something we are looking forward to, an expectation of what is yet to come.

It is so that the Church deems the virtue of Hope as an essential attitude for Advent. The readings today reveal to whom we may anchor our hope.

I invite you to re-read the first reading from Isaiah with keen attention. You will discover that even if 90% of it are about the sins and failings of the people of Israel, it were "sandwiched" by the beginning and ending verse which reminds us: GOD IS OUR FATHER.

And the second reading exhorts us to put our hope in God, because HE IS FAITHFUL.

May the Advent season prepare us for the rebirth of Jesus as the center of our lives. Amen!
