ROLE OF CHURCH MEMBERS IN GIVING
Text: 2 Corinthians 9:6–8

INTRODUCTION

A. Everyone has a Part
• Ang church ay katawan ni Kristo, at bawat isa ay may bahagi.
• A healthy church is not built by the work of one person.
• There is another important area in which every member can participate: giving.

B. Giving is one of the ways church members participate in the work of the church.
• Maaaring hindi lahat ay may opportunity na mag-preach, magturo, o umawit, ngunit lahat ay may opportunity na makibahagi sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay.
• The church participates in the work of God through giving.
• In 2 Corinthians 8–9, the church in Philippi, despite being among the poorer churches, was one of the most enthusiastic in supporting the work of missions.
• Their giving demonstrated their participation in God's work.
• Maliit man ang contribution, ginagamit pa rin ito ng Diyos sa Kanyang gawain.
• Paul connects giving with the grace of God. Grace giving is expressed through generous giving.
• Ang pagbibigay ay hindi lamang para sa mga may malaking kakayahan. Bahagi rin dito ang mga may kaunting kakayahan.
• Hindi tinitingnan ng Panginoon ang halaga lamang ng iyong ibinibigay, kundi pati ang hangarin ng iyong puso.

WHAT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY AS A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH WHEN IT COMES TO GIVING?

I. EVERY CHURCH MEMBER HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN GIVING
[Participant / Partaker]
• We are participants in the work of the church.
• Our first responsibility is to be involved.
• Every member has a responsibility to participate.
• Tayo ang magtutulungan sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay.
• Kung hindi ang members ang magbibigay, sino ang tutugon sa pangangailangan ng church?
• The church is not supported by only one person.
• Ang gawain ng church ay gawain ng buong katawan ng mga mananampalataya.
• Ikaw ba ay member ng church? Paano ka magiging involved?
• Preaching? Teaching? Singing?
• Kung hindi mo kayang gawing ang mga iyon, you can give.
• Every member is part of the body.
• Bilang bahagi ng katawan, mayroon kang function at mayroon kang responsibility.
• Every member should recognize his or her responsibility.

A. PARTICIPATION DOES NOT MEAN EQUAL AMOUNT
1 Corinthians 16:2
• The biblical principle is not equal giving but faithful giving.
• Kung paano ka pinagpala ng Diyos, doon mo sukatin kung paano ka magbigay.
• Alam ng Diyos kung ano ang ipinagkatiwala Niya sa iyo at kung ano ang kaya mong ibigay.

B. EVERY CONTRIBUTION MATTERS
Mark 12:41–44
• It is a matter of the heart.
• Never underestimate the value of faithful participation.
• Every member may not be able to contribute equally, but every member can contribute faithfully.

II. EVERY MEMBER HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPPORT THE MINISTRY
Supporter

1 Corinthians 16:2
• We are all supporters of the church.
• Giving is not an end in itself. There is a mission behind it.
• Hindi tayo nagbibigay para lang makapagbigay.
• The mission is the Great Commission—to go and preach the Gospel.
• The purpose of the ministry is to help people be restored to worship and glorify God.
• Giving is one of the ways the church carries out this mission.
• The church needs resources to operate and fulfill its ministry.

A. GIVING PROVIDES RESOURCES FOR MINISTRY
Resources are needed for:
1. The preaching and teaching of God's Word
2. Evangelism and outreach
3. Missions
4. Discipleship
5. Children's ministry
6. Ministry materials
7. Helping those in need
8. Maintaining facilities used for ministry
• If the members are faithfully giving, they are helping provide what is necessary for the church to carry out its ministry.
• Ang mga resources ay ipinagkatiwala sa atin ng Diyos upang magamit sa Kanyang gawain.

B. GIVING ALLOWS MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN MINISTRIES BEYOND THEIR PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT
• Not everyone can participate personally in every ministry, but we can participate through giving.

• When others carry out ministry, we also participate in that ministry through our giving.
• Giving connects our resources to the ministry of the local church.

C. GIVING HELPS THE CHURCH CARRY OUT ITS RESPONSIBILITIES TOGETHER
Philippians 1:5
• The word "fellowship" carries the idea of partnership.
• We are partners in carrying out the ministry of God.
• When we give, we do not only help the church; we also participate in carrying out the ministry of the Lord.

III. EVERY CHURCH MEMBER HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY TO GIVE AS AN EXPRESSION OF WORSHIP

2 Corinthians 9:7

A. Giving expresses gratitude to God
• Our responsibility in giving is not merely organizational; it is also spiritual.
• We give to the Lord because we love Him.
• Tinuturuan tayo ni Lord na magbigay hindi lamang para matutong magbigay, kundi para matutong magmahal.
• We are selfish by nature, but God teaches us generosity and love.
• Because of His love, Jesus died on the cross for us.
• Giving expresses our gratitude to God.
• Naranasan natin ang pagmamahal ng Panginoon. Bilang tugon at pasasalamat, tayo ay nagbibigay.
• Lahat ng bagay ay galing sa Diyos. Wala tayong masasabi na tunay na sa atin.
• Kung mayroon man tayong tunay na pag-aari, ito ay ang ating kasalanan—ngunit kinuha ito ni Lord at inilagay sa krus, at pinalitan ito ng Kanyang righteousness.
• Kaya ang ating pagbibigay ay nagiging katanggap-tanggap dahil sa righteousness na ipinagkaloob sa atin.
• "Every perfect gift is from above."
• Therefore, giving is one way of expressing our gratitude to God.

B. GIVING EXPRESSES COMMITMENT TO GOD'S WORD
• When we give, we say to the Lord:
"Recognize ko na anumang meron ako ay galing sa Iyo, at nais kong gamitin ito para sa Iyong kapurihan."
• Dahil ang puso natin ay puno ng pasasalamat sa Diyos, ibinibigay natin ang ating commitment sa Kanya nang buong puso.
• Our giving demonstrates that we are personally invested in supporting the church.
• Natayo ang church dahil ang mga nauna sa atin ay nagbigay.
• Kung walang nagbibigay at kung hindi tayo committed sa pagbibigay, paano magpapatuloy ang gawain ng church?
• Everything we give is ultimately for the Lord and for the advancement of His work.

C. GIVING EXPRESSES TRUST IN GOD
Matthew 6:21
"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

• Principle: Christian giving is not merely an obligation to the church; it is an act of worship toward God.
• Kung tama ang doctrine, dapat tama rin ang buhay.
• Ipinapakita ng ating pagbibigay kung bakit tayo nagbibigay at kung gaano kahalaga sa atin ang gawain ng Diyos.
• Where our treasure is, there our heart will also be.
• Christian giving is not only our responsibility to the church; it is also an expression of our trust in God.

2. Give with the ministry of the church in mind.
3. Encourage a culture of faithful stewardship in the church.
• We are not spectators in the work of God. We are participants.

CONCLUSION
The church is a body, and every member has a role.
The role of church members in giving can be summarized in three responsibilities:
1. PARTICIPATE
2. SUPPORT
3. WORSHIP
John 3:16
• Bago tayo tinuruan ng Panginoon na magbigay sa Kanya, Siya muna ang nagbigay sa atin.
• God gave His only Son for us.
• Lahat ng ating nae-enjoy sa church ay bunga rin ng matapat na pagbibigay ng mga members.

GROWING TOGETHER AS A CHURCH
Text: Ephesians 4:11–16
──────────
INTRODUCTION
• Role natin as a church is to grow in the church.

Question:
"If every member became just like me, what kind of church would we have five years from now?"
• This question challenges us to examine our level of spiritual maturity, our attitude toward other believers, and our dedication to ministry.
• This was also a concern of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians.
• The early church experienced conflicts, including tensions between Jewish and Gentile believers.
• Because of this, Paul focused on the spiritual growth and maturity of believers.

Timeless Truth:
• The strength of the church is determined by the strength of its members.

Central Truth:
• "The Church Grows When Its Members Grow."

• When the members mature, the church becomes stronger.
• When the members serve, the church fulfills its mission.

• How can you help your family if you yourself need help?


Three ways members must grow if they want the church to grow:
1. Members must grow in Maturity (Ephesians 4:13–14).
2. Members must grow in Unity (Ephesians 4:16).
3. Members must grow in Ministry (Ephesians 4:11–12).

I. GROW IN MATURITY
Ephesians 4:13–14
"...so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro..."

1. THEY KNOW GOD'S WORD
• The Lord does not want us to remain children forever.
• A healthy church is not simply a church with many people.
• A healthy church has members who are growing deeply in Christ.
• Ano ba ang sinasabi ng Diyos?
• In order to grow, we must know God's Word.
• As children of God, we must know the Word of God.
• The opinions of the world are not automatically true. If they contradict the Bible, they are not the standard of truth.
• Ephesians 4:32 teaches us to forgive one another.
• Kung sino man ang nakasakit ng iyong damdamin, sino man ang nagpahiya sa iyo, wala kang magagawa kung tunay kang mature Christian kundi patawarin mo siya.

2. THEY ARE NOT EASILY OFFENDED
• Spiritual maturity is shown by how we respond when people disappoint or mistreat us.
• We cannot allow an offense to become a major conflict.
• Colossians 3:23 reminds us to do everything wholeheartedly as for the Lord.
• If we are praised by another person, we have already received our reward. Mas okay pa ang reward sa langit.
• The question is: How should I respond as a follower of Christ?

3. THEY DISCERN TRUTH FROM ERROR
• Spiritual maturity means that we are not easily carried away by worldly ideas and false teachings.
• A spiritually immature Christian can easily be swayed by false teaching.
• This can be seen in changing worldviews on issues such as gender and divorce.
• An immature Christian can push in one direction today and another direction tomorrow.
• What is the problem? We do not know God's Word well enough to discern truth from error.
• If every CIY member knows God's Word well enough, they would not easily be swayed by other teachings.
• Kaya may Sunday School, para lalong lumalim ang kaalaman sa Bible.
• Kung maalam ka sa Bible, kahit sino ang magtanong sa iyo, malalaman mo ang tama sa mali.
• A mature Christian is not easily affected by changes in circumstances.
• The true question is: Are the members individually growing?

II. GROW IN UNITY
Ephesians 4:16
"...joined and held together by every supporting ligament..."
• Church unity is not merely sitting together.
• It means standing together, caring together, caring for others, rejoicing with one another, and choosing reconciliation.

1. THEY CARRY ONE ANOTHER'S BURDENS
Galatians 6:2
• We do not allow our brothers and sisters to struggle alone.
• Kapag nagkasakit ang ating kapatid, we pray for them.
• Sinasamahan natin sila through prayer.
• 1 Corinthians 12 reminds us that we are part of one body.
• We are joined together as one.
• Supporting one another does not always require money; sometimes it simply requires our presence.

2. THEY CELEBRATE INSTEAD OF BECOMING JEALOUS
• A mature believer does not become jealous when another person succeeds.
• Instead, a mature believer says, "Congratulations."

3. THEY CARE ABOUT RECONCILIATION INSTEAD OF WALKING AWAY
• We are one body, so problems should be talked out.
• Hindi dapat nagkikimkim.
• If conflicts are left unresolved, they can eventually create division and schism.
• The church becomes stronger not because we agree on everything, but because we choose to love one another.
• There is unity in diversity.
• We may be different in personality and character, but we are united in Christ.

III. GROW IN MINISTRY
Ephesians 4:11–12
"...to equip the saints for the work of ministry..."

1. CHRIST GIVES LEADERS TO THE CHURCH
Ephesians 4:11
"And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers."
• Christ Himself gives leaders to the church.
• They are gifts from Christ primarily for the growth of the church.
• God gave leaders not so that they alone would do the ministry, but so that they would prepare others to do the ministry.
• Leaders are called to equip and prepare God's people for ministry.
• The church becomes healthy when leaders equip members and members minister.
• It should not only be ministers who do the work of ministry, but the members of the church as well.
• Ask not only what the pastor can do for the church. Ask yourself: What can I do for the church?

2. LEADERS EQUIP, MEMBERS MINISTER
Ephesians 4:12
"To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ."
• The church is built up through the ministry of its members.
• The word "equip" carries the idea of preparing and making someone ready for service.
• Attend the service, listen to the sermon, and go home—hindi lang ito ang purpose natin.
• Growth is our responsibility.
• We are called to be a church where members are evangelizing, establishing, equipping, and expanding.
• Ito ang role natin as a church.

REFLECTION
• Kung ang lahat ng member ng church ay kagaya mo in terms of maturity, unity, relationship, service, and sharing the Gospel, what kind of church would we have five years from now?
• What kind of church do we want to become?
• There is no other way for us. If we want this church to grow, we have to grow in maturity, unity, and ministry.

Ephesians 4:13
"...until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God's Son and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CHURCH MEMBERS PRAY TOGETHER?
Text: Acts 12:5–24

INTRODUCTION
Background:
• James, the brother of John the beloved, was executed by order of King Herod.
• Peter was also imprisoned and was scheduled to be executed.
• In response, the members of the church gathered together in one place to pray for Peter.

Question:
• What happens when the church gathers together in prayer?
• One day, you will need the prayers of the church.
• One day, you will need the prayers of your fellow believers.

I. WHEN CHURCH MEMBERS PRAY TOGETHER, GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS
Acts 12:5, 11
• God is almighty, omnipotent, and all-powerful.
• God still works in mysterious ways.
• Hindi man bumaba ang Diyos nang personal, ginagamit Niya ang Kanyang mga mensahero upang isakatuparan ang Kanyang kalooban.
• Prayer should never become the last resort of Christians.
• Prayer should be our priority.
• A constant prayer was offered to God for Peter by the church.
• The context of this passage is corporate prayer—not merely the prayer of one believer.
• "Constant" means persistent, unwavering, and without ceasing.
• Kapag patuloy tayong nananalangin, kumikilos ang Diyos.
• God worked through His messenger—an angel—to help Peter escape from prison.
• God can use many different instruments to accomplish His purposes when the church prays.
• God not only works through messengers but also through miracles.
• Peter's miraculous escape was a powerful demonstration of God's intervention.
• "When man works, man works; but when we pray, God works."
• This kind of prayer is seen in the context of constant, corporate prayer.

II. WHEN CHURCH MEMBERS PRAY TOGETHER, GOD LISTENS TO THEIR PETITIONS
Acts 12:12–17
• There is often an irony among believers: we pray, yet we are surprised when God answers.
• Minsan, nananalangin tayo ngunit nagdududa pa rin tayo.
• God can do what no human being can accomplish.
• Kung ang isang tao inako gawin ang isang bagay nang hindi humihingi ng tulong sa Diyos, dahil sa isip niya kaya niya itong gawin, hindi kikilos ang Diyos. Tanging tao lang ang kikilos

Ngunit, kapag ang isang tao pinaubaya sa Diyos ang mga bagay na lagpas na sa kanyang kakayahan, ang Diyos ang bahala.

• As we continue in constant and corporate prayer, we can trust that God hears the petitions of His people.

III. WHEN CHURCH MEMBERS PRAY TOGETHER, GOD EXECUTES JUSTICE
Acts 12:18–24
• King Herod was a cruel ruler who persecuted the church.
• After Peter's escape, the soldiers assigned to guard him were executed.
• Later, King Herod accepted the people's praise as though he were a god.
• Immediately, God struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.
• God is a God of justice.
• The context of this passage reminds us of the power of corporate prayer.
• We do not need to resort to foolish to defend ourselves.
• Trust God, for He is the One who executes perfect justice

THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH IN TODAY'S YOUTH
Text: 2 Timothy 3:1–5, 10–17
──────────
INTRODUCTION
Context:
• The book of 2 Timothy was written personally by the Apostle Paul to Timothy.
• Unlike many of Paul's other letters addressed to churches, this letter was written to young Timothy.

Question:
• Why is the church important in today's youth?

I. THE CHURCH GUIDES THE YOUTH TO THE TRUTH
2 Timothy 2:2; 3:10–11
• Young people are vulnerable and easily persuaded.
• Because of this, they are often the target of the enemy.
• One of the greatest problems in today's society is relative truth.
• To break a family, you weaken the parents; but to break society, you have to destroy the future of the youth.
• The church points people to the absolute truth found in God's Word.
• It is easy to identify obvious evil, but Satan often blurs the line between truth and error through the rise of moral relativism.
• The Bible is the standard of morality.
• If we do not study God's Word, we will not recognize what is right and wrong.
• On identity issues, the world often speaks only of acceptance, while Scripture first addresses the reality of sin.
• Discipleship is essential.
• Christians have a moral responsibility to teach the Word of God.
• We are entrusted with maintaining the continuity of the Gospel.
• The youth are the strength of the church.
• We need disciples.
• We need mentorship.
• Discipleship is holistic—it develops every area of a believer's life.
• Mahalagang maitanim ang Salita ng Diyos sa puso ng kabataan upang maprotektahan sila laban sa lumalalang moralidad.
• The best way to protect the youth is to ensure that they are rooted in God's Word.
• If we are not rooted in God's Word, we will easily be swayed by the world.

II. THE CHURCH HELPS BUILD GODLY CHARACTER
2 Timothy 2:22
Titus 2:1–8
• The character of the youth is first formed in the home.
• Character is different from attitude.
• Attitude is our response to circumstances and may change depending on situations.
• Character is what is formed within us and is developed over time.
• Youthful passions and sinful desires can destroy godly character.
• Examples include vices, sexual immorality, po*******hy, and addiction.
• These corrupt both the heart and the mind.
• Do not entertain sinful desires.
• When temptation comes, flee.
• If we do not control our youthful passions, we limit how God can use us.
• Flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace.
• Pursue the things that mold godly character.
• Habits that are consistently practiced eventually become our character.
• Teach what accords with sound doctrine.
• The church must set a good example for the youth.
• The older generation should model a godly life because the younger generation is watching.

III. THE CHURCH PREPARES THE YOUTH FOR FUTURE WORKS
1 Timothy 6:1
• The church develops believers holistically.
• The church also teaches practical aspects of Christian living.
• We should always do our best in our work.
• We should maintain integrity and excellence so that God's name will not be dishonored because of our incompetence.
• While we are still young, we have the opportunity to prepare ourselves to serve the Lord.
• Habang bata pa, marami pang panahon upang ihanda ang sarili sa paglilingkod sa Panginoon.
• As a person grows older, he/she will swamped with more responsibilities and even lesser time left to spare. If you are not prepared during your time as a youth, will you still be able to alot time for God?
• The key to a successful life is preparation.
• If we are deeply rooted in God's Word, we will always make time for the Lord no matter how busy life becomes.

CONCLUSION
1 Timothy 4:12 (ESV)
"Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity"

• Kung minamaliit ka dahil sa iyong kabataan—whether because people think you are vulnerable to mistakes or prone to criticism—do not be discouraged.
• Instead, set an example for the believers.
• Tayo mismo ang magpakita ng halimbawa.
• Even in school, do not be ashamed to live out your Christian faith.
• Tindigan mo ang katotohanan at ipamuhay ang sinasabi ng Salita ng Diyos.
• Let your life become an example that points others to Christ.

THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH FOR COUPLES AND PARENTS

Children will not always obey their parents, but they will surely imitate them.

I. THE CHURCH PROVIDES A SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION FOR COUPLES AND PARENTS
Matthew 7:24–25
• The best foundation for every relationship, marriage, and family is the Word of God.
• Education is a good foundation, but it does not automatically produce good morals or godly character.
• While education is important, it is not the greatest foundation.
• If you want to build a strong relationship, build a strong spiritual foundation.
• A wise man is the one who built his house upon the rock.
• The Rock represents the solid foundation of God's Word.
• Continue to be faithful.
• Kaya mahalaga ang faithfulness ng mga magulang sa church. Natataniman ang puso ng mga anak. Maaaring hindi pa ito makita ngayon, ngunit sa tamang panahon ay mamumunga rin.
• A strong spiritual foundation strengthens the relationship between husband and wife, parents and children, and the entire family.

II. THE CHURCH PROTECTS AND MAINTAINS A STRONG MARRIAGE RELATIONSHIP
Ephesians 5:28–29
• Maintaining a marriage is often more difficult than starting one.
• Maintenance is important because relationships can easily deteriorate when neglected.
• Just as a house requires maintenance after it is built, marriage also requires continual care.
• In marriage, two become one.
• The church helps protect the marriage relationship.
• Couples are taught God's design for maintaining a strong and healthy marriage.
Proverbs 11:14
"Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."
• The Word of God provides the counsel needed to maintain a healthy marriage.
• One role of the church is to help protect and strengthen the marriage relationship.

III. THE CHURCH PROVIDES A SUPPORT GROUP DURING HARD TIMES
Galatians 6:2
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
• Care Groups and discipleship groups exist to care for the members of the church.
• God never intended for us to carry life's burdens alone.

IV. THE CHURCH GUIDES THE COUPLES AND PARENTS IN BUILDING FAMILIES
Psalm 127:1
• The church guides and helps to build a strong and a happy family .
• Walang kabuluhan ang lahat ng pagpapagal kung hindi ang Panginoon ang bumubuo ng tahanan.
• Couples and parents must allow the Lord to build their home.
• If only one spouse is committed to building the family according to God's design, it will not be successful

The goal of parents is not only to make your children successful in life, but to make them Godly children
