Today, we honor St. Monica, a faithful mother and woman of prayer. Her unwavering devotion and perseverance became an inspiration to all who trust in God’s grace and mercy.

May her example remind us to never lose hope and to persevere in prayer, especially for our loved ones.

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell. But most of all because I have offended you, my God who are worthy of all my love.

With the help of your grace I promise to avoid all occasions of sin and to amend my life. Trusting that by your infinite mercy you will forgive me all my sins. Amen.

Dear Jesus, who were made man in saving us from the power of satan, in giving us forgiveness and in inviting us to that place of glory. From the bottom of our hearts we ask you, to have mercy on us. And through your power, keep us away from sin.

Turn us away from boastful acts and worldly people and enlighten those who worship other deities. Save us from the blaze of uncleanness, so that we may not think of anything but the sufferings you have endured. We pray that you grant our desires in this novena, if it be for your greater glory and the salvation of our souls. Amen.

Special prayer for the First Day

Most loving Jesus, because of your love for us, You have come down from heaven and were made man in the womb of the Blessed Virgin, who brought you into this world in the manger. You have borne the pain of circumcision. You went to Egypt and when you came back to Jerusalem, you permitted the people to despise you and nail you on the cross placed between two robbers.

We request, Jesus in the Holy Sepulcher with all humility, to grant us this holiness. So that we may learn to revere the elderly and those who rule over us. And so that we may obtain our desires and wishes in this novena, if it be for your greater glory and the welfare of our country, and our spiritual benefit. Amen.

(Pray three Our Fathers, three Hail Mary, and three Glory Be, and in the end pray the Litany together with the prayers at the end of this novena.)

𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐅 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄

Dearest Jesus, imprint deeply in my heart the lesson that I need so dearly to learn. Imprint in my soul the essential teachings that I must grasp if I would ever be loyal to thee. Make me love my crucifix, cherish it and keep it ever close at my hand. Make the crucifix my guide, my teacher and best of friends. And may the thought of you hanging on the tree of Calvary and buried in the Holy Sepulcher spur me to do great things for You. Amen.

𝑨𝒖𝒈𝒖𝒔𝒕 16

Today we celebrate the feast of San Roque, our beloved patron and protector. Among the many images of San Roque across the Philippines, the one enshrined in the Cathedral of Kalookan has become a powerful symbol of faith for countless devotees. His image, carved centuries ago and clothed lovingly by generations of the faithful, radiates a serenity that draws hearts closer to Christ.

San Roque was born in Montpellier, France, into a life of privilege, yet chose the path of sacrifice and service. As a young pilgrim, he travelled to Rome and dedicated himself to caring for the sick during a time of plague. He fell ill, but through God’s grace, he was healed and became a channel of many miracles. Despite being misunderstood, even imprisoned by his own family, his sanctity shone brightly after his death. Across the world, devotion to him spread, and he became known as the protector against pestilence, plague, and all forms of illness, as well as the patron of the poor and the abandoned.

Today, we joyfully celebrate the Solemnity of the 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘝𝘪𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘯 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘺, honoring Mary’s being taken body and soul into heavenly glory at the end of her earthly life.

May Mary, our loving Mother and model of faith, lead us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. May her humble obedience, unwavering faith, and loving devotion inspire us to faithfully follow God’s will and remain steadfast in our journey of faith.

Mahal na INA NG LAGING SAKLOLO, buhat sa krus ibinigay ka sa amin ni Jesus upang maging Ina namin, Ikaw ang pinakamabait, pinakamasintahin sa lahat ng mga Ina, Buong giliw mong tunghayan kaming iyong mga anak na ngayon ay humihingi ng Iyong tulong sa lahat ng aming pangangailangan lalong lalo na ang biyayang ito ...

(tumigil at sabihin ang iyong mga hangarin)

Noon ikaw ay nasa lupa minamahal na Ina ikaw buong pusong nakiramay sa paghihirap ng iyong Anak. Sa tulong ng iyong pananalig at pagtitiwala sa maka-amang pagmamahal ng Diyos tinanggap mo ang Kanyang mahiwagang kalooban.

Mayroon din kaming mga krus at mga tiisin sa buhay, kung minsan ang mga ito'y parang hindi na namin kayang pasanin, bahaginan mo kami ng iyong malaking pagtitiwala sa Diyos. Ipaunawa mo na walang katapusan ang pagmamahal ng Diyos sa amin at tinutugon Niya ang lahat ng aming panalangin sa paraang makabubuti sa amin. Palakasin mo ang aming loob na pagpapasan ng krus tulad ng iyong banal na Anak. Tulungan mong maunawaan namin na sinumang nakikibahagi sa krus ni Kristo ng kanyang muling pagkabuhay. Pinakamamahal na ina habang kami ay nababahala sa sarili naming mga suliranin huwag sana naming malimutan ang mga pangangailangan ng iba. Mahal na mahal mo sila, tulungan mong maging ganito rin ang aming pagmamahal sa kanila samantalang idinalangin namin ang aming mga adhikain at ang mga adhikain ng lahat ng narito ngayon, mataimtim sa loob na hinihiling namin sa iyo aming ina tulungan mo kami makapagdulot ng aliw at ginhawa sa mga may sakit at sa mga malapit nang sumakabilang buhay, magpahilom mong sugat ng mga pusong wasak, inaapi at turuan ng katarungan ang mga sa kanila'y nang aapi at ibalik sa Diyos ang lahat ng mga nagkasala sa Kanya.

Pinakamamahal na Ina tulungan mo kaming umiwas sa kasalanan na naglalayo sa amin sa aming Ama sa langit at sa isa't isa buong tiwala naming isinasalaysay ang aming sarili sa iyong pagkalinga at lubos na umaasang kami'y iyong tutulungan.
