Franciscan priest, preacher and missionary. One of the greatest popular preachers of his age, he traveled throughout Italy calling people to repentance, peace and devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus Christ. He promoted the monogram “IHS” as a symbol of Christ’s name and encouraged reconciliation between divided cities and families. His preaching combined zeal, learning and simplicity, making him greatly beloved among ordinary people.

Pope and Martyr. Elected Bishop of Rome during a time of tension between Catholics and Arians, he was sent by the Ostrogothic king Theodoric the Great on a diplomatic mission to Constantinople. Though received honorably in the East, he fell under suspicion upon returning and was imprisoned by the king at Ravenna, where he died from harsh treatment and deprivation. He is venerated as a martyr for the faith and for fidelity to the Church.

Today, we joyfully celebrate the Feast Day of Saints Alypius and Possidius, faithful companions of Saint Augustine and shining witnesses of friendship, service, and unwavering faith in God. Their lives remind us that true holiness is nurtured through prayer, humility, brotherhood, and dedication to the mission of the Church.

As patron saints of the Recollect Augustinian Youth, Saints Alypius and Possidius continue to inspire every young person to become active disciples of Christ — united in community, strengthened by faith, and committed to serving others with love and compassion. Like them, may the RAY always grow in friendship rooted in God, courage in facing life’s challenges, and zeal in spreading the Augustinian Recollect spirit to others.

Layman, Husband and Patron of farmers and rural workers. Born near Madrid, Spain, he worked as a laborer for a wealthy landowner while living a life of deep prayer, humility and charity toward the poor. Despite his long hours in the fields, he faithfully attended Mass each morning, and tradition says angels sometimes plowed the fields in his place while he prayed. Together with his wife, Saint Maria de la Cabeza, he lived a simple but holy family life centered on trust in God. He became one of Spain’s most beloved saints and was canonized in 1622.

That’s the question I had on my mind when I read this gospel and Jesus points out that love is shown through actions, God lives in us and we in him, and keeping the commandments flows from love not fear. Therefore God loves us more than we love him and we have nothing to fear when we follow him.

Today, we celebrate the women whose love knows no limits — our mothers. 💐

Thank you for the sacrifices you make every single day, for the strength you show even during the hardest times, and for the unconditional love that keeps every family together. Mothers are the heart of every home, the first teachers, the biggest supporters, and the real-life superheroes we look up to.

This Mother’s Day, we honor and appreciate all moms for their endless care, patience, and dedication. May you feel loved, valued, and celebrated not only today but every day.

“Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.”

Sometimes, life feels like a confusing journey because there are so many choices and distractions around us.

When we feel lost or don't know where we are going, we just need to hold on to Him because He is the Truth that clears our confusion and the Life that gives us real purpose. Without Jesus, we feel like we are walking in the dark, but with Him, we have a direct connection. He is the bridge that brings us home, so we don't have to worry about getting lost as long as we follow Him.
