Couples Embrace Mission of Love at CaME Weekend Seminar

From April 25 to 27, twelve couples from Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish (Diocese of Prosperidad) participated in the 2nd Carmelite Marriage Encounter Weekend Seminar (CaME WES), held in Rosario, Agusan del Sur.

The seminar was facilitated by two experienced team couples, Kuya Benjamin and Ate Amelia Nerecina, along with Kuya Ricardo and Ate Nenita Aragon. They were assisted by members of the parish's Family and Life Apostolate, together with their parish priest, Fr. Patrick John Mariano, O.Carm., and the provincial CaME Ministry team led by Fr. Esmeraldo Reforeal, O.Carm.

Throughout the weekend, the facilitators guided the participating couples through discussions on the joys and challenges of married life, drawing inspiration from the lives of Saints Louis and Zélie Martin, the holy parents of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus.

The event culminated with the celebration of the Divine Mercy Sunday Mass, presided over by Fr. Reforeal, who spoke about God's infinite love and unending mercy in his homily.

The new CaME WES graduates were also encouraged to become beacons of hope, love, and mercy to their families, neighbors, and especially to their respective spouses. As married couples renewing their love and commitment to each other, they were sent forth as agents of healing, tasked with promoting forgiveness and becoming bridges of reconciliation in their respective communities.

The Carmelite Marriage Encounter Ministry wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the parishioners of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish for their generous participation and support, which greatly contributed to the success of the event.

We ask you, Lord,
that, in the imitation of Saint Titus Brandsma, we may know how to be close to you, near to the cross, and that we may always feel you near to us in our crosses, both large and small, as our Friend, our Companion on the journey, and our Redeemer.

May the cross always be for us a sign of love, of generous and total surrender to the cause of life, of solidarity and compassion for all. May we always say, in all the circumstances of life, with joy and full confidence in you.

God, our loving and merciful Father,
with Mary our Mother and Sister,
we adore and glorify You for all the great things You have done for us.
You lavish with abundance
those who gratefully remember You in moments of joy
and You never abandon
those who seek Your consolation in moments of sorrow.

You manifested to us Your loving-kindness and merciful justice in the person of Your Son, Jesus Christ. He brought your kingdom in our midst and by His death and resurrection, offered us the fullness of life. Those who believed and followed Your Son became living testimonies of your redeeming love in the world; and through the passing of years, many have testified by their lives that indeed, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

We praise and thank you for giving us Saint Titus Brandsma, who by his life remained steadfast in the faith and ardent in defending the truth and who by his martyrdom gave witness to his fidelity to You. Through the merits of his martyrdom and by his intercession, we humbly ask You to grant us Your Spirit’s gift of fortitude so that we may be able to witness to the Gospel even to the point of offering our lives for its sake. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Saint Titus Brandsma, you labored zealously in the vineyard of our Lord and you gave your life freely because of your faith in Him. Your deep devotion to the passion of Jesus Christ and His cross brought you closer to him. Help us also to be close to Jesus, and that we may always recognize that He is our friend, companion and redeemer who is near us as we carry our crosses. May the cross always be for us a sign of love, of generous and total surrender to the cause of life, of solidarity and compassion for all. You recognized and allowed the light of the suffering yet victorious Christ to shine in your deep prayer and to be manifested in your selfless care for others. Through your intercession I ask for your help to bring these petitions to God (mention your petitions silently) grant that I, too, may allow the light of Christ to shine from within me through my authentic witnessing. Amen.

While in prison, you never failed to bring the compassion and mercy of the Good Shepherd to his flock. You served your fellow prisoners and even risked your life in order to encourage and assure them of God’s loving presence. Your deep contemplative life inspired them to see a ray of light in the midst of the darkness hovering over them. Through your intercession I ask for your help to bring these petitions to God (mention your petitions silently) grant that I, too, may continue to serve our brothers and sisters even in the most difficult and oppressive situations. Amen.
