How can artificial intelligence serve truth and human dignity?

The Master of the Order, fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner III, OP, has appointed eight friars to a Study Group on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies, fulfilling a mandate of the General Chapter of Kraków in 2025.

Fr. Dominik Jarczewski, OP, will chair the study group, which will examine the implications of these technologies for consecrated life, preaching and the institutions of the Order. Its work will draw on the Church’s recent magisterial teaching, including Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas.

Members will propose guidance for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in formation, study, governance, administration and communications, while safeguarding the disciplines of the Dominican intellectual tradition.

The study group will collaborate with the Order’s universities, study centers and friars engaged in technological initiatives, and prepare pastoral and ethical guidance for sharing with the faithful.

Its work takes up a question at the heart of our mission, "How do we preach the truth in a world increasingly shaped by AI?"

Last August 24, 2026, we were blessed to witness the ordination of four new brothers to the priesthood. We continue to give thanks to God for the gift of their vocation!

Rev. Fr. Laurence Ryan Villar Mata, OP
Rev. Fr. Vince Stanley Bautista Iñigo, OP

Through the laying on of hands and the Prayer of Ordination, these brothers have been configured more closely to Christ the Eternal High Priest. They have dedicated their lives to the service of God and His Church through the celebration of the Sacraments, the care of God’s people, and the preaching of the Gospel.

Let us continue to pray that the Lord grants them grace, wisdom, and strength in their ministry.

LOOK: On September 5, 2026, the student-brothers joined in celebration as Rev. Fr. Alexander Constantine Narag Seño, OP, celebrated Thanksgiving Mass at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Los Baños, Laguna.

It was truly a joyful and meaningful occasion for all of us as we gathered to celebrate with him and offer our gratitude for the countless blessings He has bestowed upon him throughout his journey.

As we continue to share in this celebration of gratitude, let us also continue to pray for Fr. Alexander for guidance and strength in his ministry and vocation.
