Last Thursday, the Dominican Family rejoiced as nine brothers made their Simple Profession during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag, Pangasinan.

The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Filemon I. dela Cruz Jr., OP, Prior Provincial of the Dominican Province of the Philippines, and concelebrated by Dominican friars from various communities.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations and prayerful best wishes to our newly professed brothers:

• Br. Jim Mark G. Orlan, OP
• Br. K.A. Tehan Sampath Sri Dalas Perera, OP
• Br. Francis Hyle M. De Leon, OP
• Br. Rassched Chevy U. Avilla, OP
• Br. Yoga Dwi Kaswara, OP
• Br. Cherwi Jonatan, OP
• Br. Lawrence J. Pacatang, OP
• Br. Michael S. Pepania Jr., OP
• Br. Khen Airon A. Yonzon, OP

As they embrace the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience in the Order of Preachers, may they remain steadfast in their vocation, faithful to their religious profession, and ever zealous in preaching the Gospel for the salvation of souls.

May Our Lady of the Rosary and our Holy Father St. Dominic continue to guide and protect them throughout their journey.

O Spem Miram: The Wonderful Hope of St. Dominic

As the first friars gathered tearfully at St. Dominic’s deathbed, he offered them an unwavering promise:

"Do not weep, for I shall be more useful to you after my death, and I shall help you then more effectively than during my life."

This "Wonderful Hope" (O Spem Miram) is a sacred bond that continues to unite St. Dominic with his spiritual children today. In heaven, he continues his mission, counseling souls and interceding with priestly zeal.

Scroll through the images below to pray this traditional responsory and join us in claiming his promise: "Fulfill, O Father, what you have said!"

O mira spes Ecclesiae, Sancte Dominice! Pray for us that we may contemplate the Truth and live our vocations holily as preachers of Christ. 🙏

Why should the Church preach about social justice?

“Today, the Social Doctrine of the Church is a legacy of wisdom, where we find principles for thought, criteria for discernment and judgment, and concrete guidelines for action. Founded on Sacred Scripture and Tradition, and in engagement with the sciences, it helps us clearly interpret the challenges of the present and identify appropriate ways for living out a clear Christian witness, with joy and in service to the world. It is not an inert set of concepts, but a living corpus of truth that safeguards and interprets humanity’s vocation to a full and just life.”

Mangifica Humanitas 3, Pope Leo XIV
