This is Ralph Stanley doing his bluegrass version of Hank William's song "I Saw the Light."

Ralph was a good ol Virginia Boy who grew up in the hills of Southwest Virginia.

I've listened to Blue Grass most of my life, but when I moved to Virginia in 1987 and spent several weeks in the Shenandoah Valley at Wi******er while training at the Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia...I became addicted to 2 things: Celtic Music and Blue Grass which were the staple music of this Scots-Irish community.

Tonight we begin a study of the Prophet Jeremiah.

Jeremiah is such an interesting man and his book reveals so much about the way in which God calls and trains his ministers.

Jeremiah was very young when God called him into ministry. Jeremiah was at first very reluctant to be God's voice and he gave God many excuses about why he could not be God's man. But, once he knew he was called and after God trained and tested him, Jeremiah said that the Spirit of God in him was like fire shut up in his bones and that he had no choice but to preach and proclaim God's messages to the people.

May each one of us experience the Holy Ghost fire!!!

Tonight at Jericho we will study about the great man of God Henry "Harry" Ironside. Harry was one of the greatest American Evangelists and Teachers ever produced. Harry had direct connections with other great men of God like Billy Sunday and Dwight L. Moody and he greatly influenced countless others like J. Vernon McGee, who was only a youngster when Harry was pastoring at the Moody Church in Chicago, 1929 to 1948. Im posting a video about McGee mostly as a reference for me but Harry Ironside is mentioned in the video.

The most important day in your life is the day that you go to the cross and there meet Jesus.

Have YOU been to the Cross yet? Yes YOU...have YOU been to the Cross?

What happens there at the Cross? You see and encounter Jesus the Crucified one...the Son of the Living God who was wounded for Our transgressions (Failures) and bruised for Our iniquities (Deep Sins).

There You (We) see Our own selves also...as the guilty ones for whom he gave His Life. At the cross we recognize that it was our Sin that he died for and we confess to Him our fault. When we Confess He is faithful and just to cleanse us of our unrighteousness and He also gives birth to us and we become a new creation in Him...we are born again!!! This birth is a spiritual birth and we receive Peace with God forever.

So...have you been to the Cross and have you Confessed and have you been cleansed and born again?

If not you can do it right now. What is keeping you from your new life? Do it now and you will be glad that you did.

Today was communion Sunday at our church and each time we take communion we Remember Jesus and His sacrifice and His blood shed for our sin. We take the opportunity to remember, to reflect and to renew our trust in Him as our Savior and Lord.

For Christmas this year, Pastor Mark will be making a light meal at the Jericho Inn Mission on Thursday, Dec 26th. We will have Spicy Butter Garlic Shrimp over Coconut rice and a white wine sauce, followed by a Traditional Finnish Christmas Sweet Bread called "Pulla" or "Juolu Pulla." Pulla features the ancient spice Cardamom used in many Indian subcontinent dishes, which was brought to Scandinavia by the Vikings. Pastor Mark will recreate the recipe used by his paternal Grandmother Maria Ervasti which adds tart Red Cherries to the dough mix yeilding a far more festive bread roll which will also be lightly drizzled with a sugar-based icing and finally a stout hot coffee.

We will also watch a classic semi-Christmas movie called "Going My Way" filmed in 1943 and starring Bing Crosby. Bing, as "Father O'Malley" will turn a bunch of street hoodlums into a first rate Church Choir and saves the church from foreclosure when he sells the rights to a song he wrote: "Would You Like to Swing on a Star." Bing will also sing "Silent Night," and "Toora loora loora" (an Irish Lullabye).
