Prayer meeting is not a program of the church;
it is the POWER of the church.

Prayer is not just another activity added to the church schedule it is the source of spiritual strength for every believer and the whole congregation. Through prayer, the church connects directly with God, receives guidance, overcomes trials, and experiences revival.

The early church in the Bible grew strong not because of programs, but because believers gathered faithfully in prayer. When a church prays together, unity increases, faith deepens, and God’s power works mightily among His people.

A praying church becomes a victorious church, a united church, and a mission-minded church. Prayer invites God to lead every ministry and every heart. 🙏

Acts 1:14
“These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.”

James 5:16
“…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

----THE WATCHERS----

“I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven.” (Daniel 4:13)

It is only in this chapter of Daniel (see also verses 17 and 23) that certain angelic beings called “watchers” are mentioned. Whether the term applies to all God’s holy angels or only to a certain order of angels has not been revealed in Scripture.

However, we do know that at least some of the angels, if not all of them, are intensely occupied with observing events among humans here on Earth. For example, Paul said that he and the other apostles had been made “a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men” (1 Corinthians 4:9).

The word “spectacle” in this verse is actually “theatre” and is so translated the only other time it is used in the New Testament (Acts 19:29, 31). It is sobering and surprising to realize that Christians—especially Christian leaders—are on a stage, as it were, being carefully watched by an audience that even includes the angels.

Paul also cautioned Christian women to maintain a covering on their heads “because of the angels” (1 Corinthians 11:10). Perhaps the watching angels are also included in the great “cloud of witnesses” who observe us as we “run with patience the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).

But why should these mighty angels, these “holy ones,” these heavenly “watchers,” have such a “desire to look into” these things here on Earth (1 Peter 1:12)? Perhaps they are anxious, like us, to “see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God” (Ephesians 3:9–10).

---- HE KNOWS ----

“I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.” (Revelation 2:19)

Seven times in the letters to His seven representative churches in Revelation 2 and 3 the Lord Jesus says, “I know thy works” (Revelation 2:2, 9, 13, 19; 3:1, 8, 15). Whatever we are doing—or not doing—He knows!

Sometimes such knowledge can bring—or at least should bring—great consternation. He knows, for example, all our hypocrisies: “I know . . . that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead” (3:1). He also knows when our outward display of religious activity masks a real heart-attitude of compromising self-interest. “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot” (v.15).

Yet, He also knows when our service is genuine and our testimony is God-glorifying and faithful. “I know . . . thy labour, and thy patience . . . . I know . . . thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith” (2:2, 13).

Of these seven testimonies of His knowledge, the central one is in our text. He knows when we really love Him, for the “charity” mentioned is nothing less than agape, or unselfish love. He knows all about our sincere “service” and true “faith” in His Word as well as our “patience” of hope.

Perhaps the most precious of His assurances, however, is that to the suffering church at Smyrna. “I know thy . . . tribulation, and poverty” (2:9). When He says that He knows, the sense is that He understands, because He has been through it all Himself. Therefore, “we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:15–16).

----BURIED WITH HIM----

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death, that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4)

The burial of Christ after His death was extremely important for two reasons. First, it assures us that His death was a physical death and that His resurrection was a bodily resurrection. Second, His burial—like His death and resurrection—has profound doctrinal and practical significance for the believer’s individual life.

All this is pictured, as our text points out, by the ordinance of baptism, displaying symbolically the death of Christ for sin and the death of the believer to sin, then the burial of the corruptible body of flesh (which, for all but Christ, returns to dust in accordance with God’s Curse). Finally, it reflects the resurrection, demonstrating Christ’s eternal victory over sin and death, and, in the case of the believer, the beginning of the new life in Christ.

The same truth appears again in Colossians 2:12: “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” Although these are the only New Testament passages where the doctrinal implications of Christ’s burial are specifically mentioned, the spiritual truths taught thereby permeate all the Scriptures. If our old bodies of sin are—at least positionally—already in the grave, then it is altogether grotesque for them still to be walking around in sin. “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection” (Romans 6:5). We shall (not “should,” as misleadingly rendered in our text) walk in newness of life, triumphant daily over sin through the implanted resurrection life of our victorious Savior.

🟡 LOYALTY TO THE WORD—NOT TO MEN

✨ INTRODUCTION

One of the most dangerous shifts in any church is when loyalty moves from the Word of God to human leaders. When people follow personalities more than Scripture, deception begins.

📖 Jeremiah 17:5 KJV — “Cursed be the man that
trusteth in man…”
📖 2 Timothy 3:16 KJV — The Word of God is the final authority

In this Dispensation of Grace, God has given us His rightly divided Word through the Apostle Paul (2 Tim. 2:15). Our loyalty must be anchored in truth—not tradition, not titles, not teachers.

🔥 1️⃣ SUPREMACY OF SCRIPTURE
(2 Timothy 3:16 KJV)

🔹 Subpoints:
Scripture is Inspired – God-breathed Word (2 Tim. 3:16)
Sufficient Authority – Final standard (Isa. 8:20)
Sound Doctrine – Right teaching (Titus 2:1)
Spiritual Guidance – Light to path (Ps. 119:105)
📖 Explanation:
The Word of God—not a man—is our ultimate authority.

🔥 2️⃣ SUBMISSION TO CHRIST, NOT MEN
(Colossians 1:18 KJV)

🔹 Subpoints:
Christ the Head – Head of the Body (Col. 1:18)
Complete in Him – Not in leaders (Col. 2:10)
Confidence in Christ – Trust Him fully (Phil. 3:3)
Careful of Men – Avoid misplaced trust (Jer. 17:5)
📖 Explanation:
Leaders are servants—but Christ alone is Lord.

🔥 3️⃣ SEPARATION FROM SEDUCING LEADERS
(1 Timothy 4:1 KJV)

🔹 Subpoints:
Seducing Spirits – False teachings (1 Tim. 4:1)
Self-Seeking Leaders – Not Christ-centered (Phil. 2:21)
Subtle Deception – Smooth words (Rom. 16:18)
Stand in Truth – Hold fast doctrine (2 Tim. 1:13)
📖 Explanation:
Not all leaders lead right—discernment is essential.

🔥 4️⃣ STUDYING TO STAND STRONG
(2 Timothy 2:15 KJV)

🔹 Subpoints:
Study Diligently – Rightly divide (2 Tim. 2:15)
Search the Scriptures – Like Bereans (Acts 17:11*)
Stand Approved – Not ashamed (2 Tim. 2:15)
Separate Truth – Distinguish dispensations (Eph. 3:2)
📖 Explanation:
A grounded believer cannot be easily misled—truth protects.
(*Rightly divided application—pattern of examining truth.)

🔥 5️⃣ SOUND DOCTRINE OVER PERSONALITY
(2 Timothy 4:3 KJV)

🔹 Subpoints:
Doctrine Matters – Not entertainment (2 Tim. 4:3)
Desire for Truth – Not itching ears (2 Tim. 4:3)
Discern Preaching – Test all things (1 Thess. 5:21)
Depend on Scripture – Not charisma (Gal. 1:10)
📖 Explanation:
Truth is not based on how appealing the speaker is, but how accurate the Scripture is.

🔥 6️⃣ SPIRITUAL LIBERTY IN CHRIST
(Galatians 5:1 KJV)

🔹 Subpoints:
Stand in Liberty – Free in Christ (Gal. 5:1)
Shun Bo***ge – Avoid control (Col. 2:20–22)
Serve by Love – Not fear (Gal. 5:13)
Stay Grounded – In grace (Rom. 6:14)
📖 Explanation:
A true church builds freedom in Christ—not control through men.

🔥 7️⃣ STEADFASTNESS IN THE TRUE GOSPEL
(Galatians 1:8–9 KJV)

🔹 Subpoints:
Stand on the Gospel – Paul’s Gospel (1 Cor. 15:1–4)
Shun False Gospels – Reject additions (Gal. 1:8)
Stay Faithful – Continue in grace (Col. 1:23)
Spread the Truth – Preach boldly (Rom. 1:16)
📖 Explanation:
The true mark of a sound church is not loyalty to leaders—but faithfulness to the Gospel of Grace.

🔚 CONCLUSION

When a church elevates leaders above Scripture, it
loses truth.
But when it exalts the Word of God, it remains pure, powerful, and pleasing to God.
👉 We are not called to follow men blindly—we are called to follow Christ biblically.

📣 CALL TO ACTION

Return to the Word – Make Scripture your authority (2 Tim. 3:16)
Reject Man-Centered Faith – Trust Christ alone (Jer. 17:5)
Rightly Divide Truth – Study diligently (2 Tim. 2:15)
Remain in the Gospel – Stand firm (Gal. 1:8–9)
👉 IF YOUR LOYALTY IS TO GOD’S WORD ABOVE MEN, PUT AMEN.

💭 FINAL THOUGHTS

✨ Leaders may fail—but the Word never fails
✨ Men may change—but truth remains
✨ Churches may drift—but Scripture stands
✨ Follow Christ—not crowds

🔥 LOYALTY TO THE WORD OF GOD KEEPS THE CHURCH PURE. AMEN.

Kapag may nagtanong nang maayos, agad niyang sasabihing "Touch not my anointed."
