𝗣𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮’𝘀 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Pope Leo XIV has renewed the appointment of Bishop Socrates Mesiona, M.S.P., as a member of the Dicastery for Evangelization, specifically in the Section for First Evangelization and the New Particular Churches, for another five-year term.

The renewal was communicated through an official Vatican document issued in the name of the Holy Father. The decree confirms Bishop Mesiona’s continued service in one of the Roman Curia’s key dicasteries responsible for supporting missionary activity and assisting newly established local Churches throughout the world.

The notification states that Bishop Mesiona has been “confirmed for another quinquennium,” the customary ecclesiastical term referring to a five-year appointment. The document further notes that the information is being formally conveyed to the bishop so that he may be duly informed and carry out his responsibilities accordingly.

The appointment was issued from the Vatican on May 25, 2026, and bears the authority of the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. (via K. Santos)

Due to unpredictable weather conditions, the venue for the Launch of the CBCP’s Katipunan Formation Program for Good Citizenship on August 11, 2026 has been changed.

Please be advised that the event will no longer be held at the Seminario de San Jose as previously announced.

This adjustment was made to ensure the safety, comfort, and convenience of all participants expected to attend from parishes across the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa will formally roll out the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines’ (CBCP) Katipunan Formation Program for Good Citizenship on Aug. 11 at the Seminario de San Jose, bringing together an estimated 250 participants from parishes across the vicariate.

The event will gather parish representatives from throughout AVPP as part of the nationwide effort to promote civic responsibility and active citizenship rooted in Christian values.

The Katipunan Formation Program was introduced by the CBCP as a formation initiative that seeks to help shape Filipinos into good citizens guided by faith, moral integrity, and concern for the common good. CBCP President Archbishop Gilbert Garcera has emphasized that the program is not a political movement but a formation process intended to develop citizens whose social and civic engagement is inspired by Christian values.

Bishop Socrates Mesiona, MSP, expressed hope that the program would help members of the local Church become more engaged and responsible contributors to society.

“Our Christian convictions serve as a catalyst for us to contribute meaningfully to society, and the Katipunan module presents a valuable resource to facilitate this aspiration. Consequently, it is my earnest hope that a significant number of our community will discover it to be beneficial,” Mesiona said.

The formation session will be facilitated by Madeliene Ibe and her team from the Kaya Natin! Movement, a non-profit organization that promotes good governance, ethical leadership, and social accountability in the Philippines.

The CBCP has partnered with the Kaya Natin! Movement in implementing the Katipunan Formation Program in local churches and communities. The collaboration seeks to provide participants with formation tools that encourage responsible citizenship and greater participation in the life of society while remaining grounded in Christian principles.

The Aug. 11 launch marks AVPP’s participation in the CBCP’s broader effort to foster a culture of integrity, responsibility, and service among Filipino Catholics through faith-based citizenship formation, according to Bishop Mesiona. (via K. Santos)

𝗔𝗩𝗣𝗣 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

The Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa (AVPP) is lending its support to the upcoming "Voices of Faith, Hearts of Praise" Catholic Church Choir Competition 2026, a musical celebration open to Catholic church, seminary, and institutional choirs.

The competition will feature a video audition round, an original composition round, and a live grand finals, with cash prizes totaling ₱50,000 for the champion, ₱30,000 for second place, and ₱20,000 for third place. The top 10 choirs will advance to the Grand Finals.

Choirs interested in participating are encouraged to submit their entries and required registration details within the announced deadlines.
