🎉42nd Anniversary of Indigenous Peoples Apostolate (IPA)

In celebration of the IPA's 42nd anniversary, a gathering of former and current volunteers and employees was held on March 13-14, 2026, to recognize those who have shaped the organization over the years. The event served as a bridge between the pioneers who started it all and the current team that keeps the advocacies running.

It wasn't just a celebration of years, but a tribute to the "hindi matatawarang" experiences and friendships formed along the way.

🌱🌱Project PAMANA Update🌱🌱

From February 2-6, 2026, the Project Management Team, along with representatives from the coastal communities and the local government unit of Aborlan (MAO & MENRO), flew to Zamboanga Sibugay to conduct a learning visit to a successful aquasilviculture area managed by the Coalition of Municipal Fisherfolks Association (COMFAS) in the municipality of Kabasalan.

📚The visit equipped the participants with valuable knowledge on best practices in aquasilviculture, financial management, governance, co-sharing networks, and aquasilviculture and mangrove nursery design and layout.

To ensure that the knowledge acquired is effectively disseminated among the coastal community,a follow-up session will be conducted in the succeeding activities for the coastal communities of Aborlan to re-echo the insights gained during the visit. This will allow a broader understanding and application of the key practices and strategies discussed.

The activity aimed to assess the current condition and health of mangrove forests in Barangays Apo-Aporawan, and Magsaysay, including species composition, canopy cover, and forest structure. It also sought to address existing data gaps from previous mangrove assessments by producing a comprehensive report on mangrove biodiversity and habitat characterization. Another key objective was to engage trained community members and local mangrove managers through a citizen science approach in data collection and field observations, thereby strengthening local capacity and ownership.
