Christ had compassion on the hungry and performed a miracle of love for them. Mindful of this, let us pray:

𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙪𝙨 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚, 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙙.

Lord, we recognize that all the favors we have received today come through your generosity,
- do not let them return to you empty, but let them bear fruit. (R)

Light and salvation of all nations, protect the missionaries you have sent into the world,
- enkindle in them the fire of your Spirit. (R)

Grant that we may shape the world in keeping with human dignity,
- and respond generously to the needs of our time. (R)

Healer of body and spirit, comfort the sick and be present to the dying,
- in your mercy visit and refresh us. (R)

May the faithful departed be numbered among the saints,

Noong mga araw na iyon, natuyo ang batis. Kaya sinabi ng Panginoon kay Elias: “Umalis ka rito. Pumunta ka sa Sarepta, sa lupain ng Sidon. May inutusan akong isang balo na magpapakain sa iyo roon.” Pumunta nga siya roon, at nang papasok na siya ng pintuan ng lungsod, nakita niya ang balo na namumulot ng panggatong. Sinabi niya sa babae: “Maaari po bang makiinom?” Aalis na ang babae upang ikuha siya ng tubig nang pahabol niyang sabihin: “Kung maaari, bigyan mo na rin ako ng kaunting pagkain.”

Sumagot ang babae: “Alam po ng Panginoon na iyong Diyos na wala na kaming tinapay. Mayroon pa kaming kaunting harina at kapatak na langis. Namumulot nga ako ng mai-gagatong upang lutuin iyon at makakain man lamang kami ng anak ko bago kami mamatay.”

Sinabi sa kanya ni Elias: “Huwag kang mag-alala. Humayo ka at gawin mo ang iyong sinabi. Ngunit ipagluto mo muna ako ng isang munting tinapay, at pagkatapos magluto ka ng para sa inyo. Sapagkat ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon, Diyos ng Israel:

“Hindi ninyo mauubos ang harina sa lalagyan
at hindi rin matutuyo yaong langis sa tapayan
hanggang hindi sumasapit ang talagang takdang araw
na ang ula’y marapating papatakin ng Maykapal.”

Ginawa nga ng babae ang utos ni Elias at sila’y kumain – si Elias at silang mag-ina. At hindi nga naubos ang harina sa lalagyan, at hindi natuyo ang langis sa sisidlan, tulad ng pangako ng Panginoon sa pamamagitan ni Elias.

10 He left and went to Zarephath. As he arrived at the entrance of the city, a widow was gathering sticks there; he called out to her, “Please bring me a small cupful of water to drink.”

11 She left to get it, and he called out after her, “Please bring along a bit of bread.”

12 She answered, “As the LORD, your God, lives, I have nothing baked; there is only a handful of flour in my jar and a little oil in my jug. Just now I was collecting a couple of sticks, to go in and prepare something for myself and my son; when we have eaten it, we shall die.”

13 Elijah said to her, “Do not be afraid. Go and do as you propose. But first make me a little cake and bring it to me. Then you can prepare something for yourself and your son.

14 For the LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘The jar of flour shall not go empty, nor the jug of oil run dry, until the day when the LORD sends rain upon the earth.'”

15 She left and did as Elijah had said. She was able to eat for a year, and Elijah and her son as well;

16 the jar of flour did not go empty, nor the jug of oil run dry, as the LORD had foretold through Elijah.

Let us praise God, our almighty Father, who wished that Mary, his Son's mother, be celebrated by each generation. Now in need we ask:

𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙮, 𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙚, 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙙𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙪𝙨.

O God, worker of miracles, you made the immaculate Virgin Mary share, body and soul, in your Son's glory in heaven,
- direct the hearts of your children to that same glory. (R)

You made Mary our mother. Through her intercession grant strength to the weak, comfort to the sorrowing, pardon to sinners,
- Salvation and peace to all. (R)

You made Mary full of grace,

31 Now since it was preparation day, in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one, the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken and they be taken down.

32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus.
