Pentecost Sunday, celebrated 50 days after Easter, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. This sacred event is recognized as the “birthday of the Church,” marking the beginning of the Apostles’ mission to proclaim the Gospel and build the Christian community throughout the world.

As one community of faith, may we continue to grow in unity, service, and love for one another, guided and strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

Memorial of the First Apparition of Our Lady of Fátima — May 13, 1917

On May 13, 1917, in the quiet town of Fátima, three young shepherd children — Lúcia dos Santos, Francisco Marto, and Jacinta Marto — said they saw a beautiful lady dressed in white while tending their sheep at Cova da Iria. Catholics believe this lady was the Blessed Virgin Mary, now known as Our Lady of Fátima.

She asked the children to pray the Rosary every day, to pray for peace in the world, and to return on the 13th of each month. Her messages brought hope during the difficult years of World War I. The apparitions continued until October 1917, ending with the famous “Miracle of the Sun,” witnessed by thousands of people.

Today, the story of Fátima continues to inspire millions of faithful around the world through prayer, peace, and devotion.

Day 2: Journeying Together in Faith.

We continue our spiritual preparation for the Feast of Saint Vincent Ferrer! Today marks the 2nd Day of our Novena Mass here at the Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish in Patin-ay.

𝟓𝟏𝟎 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

On April 18, 2026, a total of 510 parishioners from the 20 chapels of Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish in Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur received the Sacrament of Confirmation in a solemn and grace-filled celebration.

The rite was presided over by Most Rev. Ruben C. Labajo, D.D., with the concelebration of Rev. Fr. Kimrey Pintor, Rev. Fr. Romeo G. Garcia, and Rev. Fr. Yor T. Itallo.

The Sacrament of Confirmation, one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, strengthens the faithful in their Christian journey and deepens their bond with the Church through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The large number of confirmands reflected the parish community's strong faith and active participation.

The celebration was marked by reverence and joy as the newly confirmed reaffirmed their commitment to live out their faith and take on a more active role in the life of the Church.

"Like Archbishop Coakley, I too was disheartened by President Trump’s disparaging words about our Holy Father this past Sunday. Pope Leo XIV is a messenger of the Gospel and, as he himself said, “not a politician.” Of course, our Holy Father is called to be a herald of peace. He is the Vicar of Christ, the Prince of Peace. He has the responsibility as pastor of the universal Church and successor of Saint Peter to proclaim the Gospel, to defend human life and dignity, and to advocate for peace among peoples and nations. The Holy Father points us to our Lord’s teaching in the Sermon on the Mount, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9). And he reminds us of our moral obligation to seek, promote, and pursue peace and to avoid war. This is indeed a matter of morality about which the Church’s voice needs to be heard.

Last week, the Holy Father noted that “rejecting the logic of war may lead to misunderstanding and scorn.” He also explained that the Church “proclaims the Gospel of peace and instills obedience to God rather than any human authority, especially when the inherent dignity of other human beings is threatened by continuous violations of international law.” I am grateful that Pope Leo XIV continues to courageously proclaim the Gospel of peace, even when criticized or ridiculed. Let us pray for our Holy Father, our government leaders, and other leaders of nations. Let us continue to pray for peace in the Middle East and other troubled areas of the world."
