โAnd you yourself a sword will pierce.โ โ Luke 2:35
Today, the Church commemorates the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows, contemplating the Blessed Virgin Mary as she faithfully stood with her Son throughout His suffering and Passion.
From the prophecy of Simeon to the death of Jesus on the Cross, Maryโs heart was pierced by sorrow. Yet, she never abandoned her faith or turned away from God. At the foot of the Cross, she remainedโa Mother filled with sorrow, but also with unwavering faith, hope, and love.
Today, we remember the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary and unite our own pains, struggles, and sufferings with those of Christ. Mary teaches us that sorrow does not mean the absence of faith. Even in our darkest moments, we are invited to remain close to God and to trust in His loving plan.
May Our Sorrowful Mother accompany all those who are suffering, grieving, or carrying heavy crosses. Through her maternal intercession, may we find comfort, strength, and hope in Christ.
