Bicol Chapter Fellowship and Updating
On Nov 25-27, the National Coordinators of Pamrog went to the Province of Sorsogon to meet and relay to the PamRog members of the Bicol Chapter the recent PamRog activities in Luzon and Visayas.
The event started with the celebration of the Holy Mass said in native Bicolano with Rev. Fr. Jobert Belgica, RCJ as the main celebrant, while a fired up Rev. Fr. Jorem Bellen, RCJ shared his homily with such zeal and passion also in native Bicolano mixed with a bit of English and Tagalog. The mass was also concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Chris Melvic Floralde, RCJ, Rev. Fr. JR Arreza, RCJ and Rev. Lorgin Hernaez, RCJ.
As the cliché goes, “pagkatapos ng Misa ay lamisa”, and thus a potluck of sumptuous lunch was enjoyed by everyone. The afternoon activities, started off with Dr Lao’s sharing of her learnings and insights from her experiences in Pamrog as she read the speech she shared to the recently concluded Provincial Chapter. She was followed through by Mr. Vic Lagarde, president of Bicol Chapter, also sharing his experiences in particular the challenges and joys of being involved in PamRog. He affirmed that the continuous updating of the priests is important for PamRog to thrive. One of the commendable activities, shared by Mr. Gani Nazarrea, is that this chapter initiated the gathering of the current contact details of every Bicolano Pamrog member for better coordination of future activities. Tito Rolly and Luanne also shared their personal experiences in Pamrog. For the first time, the other children of Tito Rolly and Dr. Edna were able to join this Pamrog meeting: Louie together with his wife Leiny, and Lorraine. They too shared what it was like for them to be involved in a Pamrog event.
Rev. Fr. JR, the vocation promoter for Luzon, encouraged the members to keep the spirit of the Rogate alive by continuing to support the activites of PamRog. He also shared the importance of the presence of PamRog in his life even now as a Rogationist priest. Fr. JR also updated the Bicol chapter on who are the newly elected Provincial Superior and Council Members of the St. Matthew Province. He also shared the current status of the Bicolano seminarian and brothers to their respective parents.
Fr. JR invited the parents of Sem. John Darryl Ballano: Mr. Jomar & Mrs. Xyrel Ballano to share their experience as parents of a 1st year seminarian. He also invited the parents of Bro. Cyrone Bañares who is currently assigned in Davao for his practical training. Mr. Undoy & Mrs. Nora Bañares shared the vocation story of their son. Bro. Reigne Feil Nazarrea, a 1st Year Theology student, together with his family also shared his inspirational vocation story.
A report on the vocation campaign that they did in the provinces of Northern Luzon last week was given by Fr. JR. Unfortunately there is no vocation campaign that will happen anytime soon in Southern Luzon due to the lack of response from the Diocese. Instead, with the permission from the Diocese, the campaign will be moved on the summer of 2023. He also informed the attendees of the Vocation Orientation that will happen on Dec. 26-30, 2022 at the Father Hannibal Formation Center in Merville, Parañaque. Fr. JR emphasized that the best form of promoting for vocations is “witnessing” where young men will see the Seminarians with their families in fellowship, most especially in praying together for more holy vocations.
The emcee, Rev. Lorgin shared how PamRog helped his formative years as a seminarian. He narrated how, during their vocation campaign, they would visit each other’s parents before going home to their respective houses. He also emphasized how the role of PamRog greatly helps the promotion of vocations. For the last part of the talk he gave an update on the current assignments of the Bicolano RCJ’s.
To entertain ourselves Rev. Lorgin assigned 3 different game masters to give party games for the attendees to join in. For the closing remarks, Fr. Jobert and Dr. Lao was invited back to say a few parting words. Mrs. Nancy Tutas, mother of Rev. Fr. Bryan Tutas, RCJ was also asked to share a few words of gratitude. The whole event ended with a prayer and a song to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
