A new year reminds us of a simple truth—time moves forward. Yet God invites us into something greater than just surviving the year: He promises a flourishing life. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). This abundant life is not about busyness or achievements, but about being rooted in God.
Psalm 1 shows us a picture of what flourishing looks like: a tree planted by streams of water. Flourishing begins not with activity, but with identity—“He is like a tree.” Just as water is essential to a plant, God is not optional in our lives. With Him is the fountain of life (Psalm 36:9). A tree doesn’t manufacture life; it receives it.
Unlike physical aging, spiritual life does not have to wither with time. When we are planted in God’s presence, our leaves do not dry up, and we continue to bear fruit—even in old age (Psalm 92:12–14). Those who wait on the Lord are continually renewed in strength (Isaiah 40:31).
A flourishing life is not defined by ease or wealth, but by direction and purpose. To prosper means living aligned with God, producing lasting fruit, and allowing even setbacks to serve His purposes. A truly prosperous life is one that pleases God, bears fruit, and leaves something eternal behind.
Happy New Year — Stay Rooted! 🌿
