🎶 Introducing the SCAP Music Ministry Chorale (SCAPMMC)! 🎶

With grateful hearts, the St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish Music Ministry proudly launches the SCAP Music Ministry Chorale (SCAPMMC) and unveils its official logo.

The SCAP Music Ministry Chorale will be administered by the SCAP Music Ministry Officers under the leadership of Music Ministry Coordinator Bryan Jay Baltazar Salta and Assistant Coordinator Christian Cunanan, in collaboration with the ministry officers and Chapel Coordinators, working together to strengthen and promote the ministry’s mission of serving God through sacred music.

We are now opening our doors to new members!

Who may join?
• Members of Parish Choirs and Chapel Choirs
• Lay faithful from the Municipality of Porac
• 18 years old and above
• Individuals who are committed to serving God through the ministry of music

As members of the SCAP Music Ministry Chorale, everyone is expected to faithfully attend rehearsals, practices, and scheduled Masses and parish celebrations. Regular attendance and commitment are essential to the ministry. Repeated or unexcused absences may result in removal from the chorale.

🎶 A New Chapter in Liturgical Music 🎶

Today, we celebrate the installation and blessing of our new Yamaha Electone Stagea at Saint Catherine of Alexandria Parish! This marks its first use in the Holy Mass, enhancing our worship with beautiful and solemn music. 🎹

A heartfelt thank you to the Parish Pastoral Council and our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Jesus B. Layug Jr., for their unwavering support in making this possible. May this new instrument inspire even more devotion and joy in our liturgical celebrations.

The story of St. Cecilia

There was in the city of Rome a virgin named Cecilia, who was given in marriage to a youth named Valerian. She wore sackcloth next to her skin, and fasted, and invoked the saints and angels and virgins, beseeching them to guard her virginity. And she said to her husband, “I will tell you a secret if you will swear not to reveal it to anyone.” And when he swore, she added, “There is an angel who watches me, and wards off from me any who would touch me.” He said, “Dearest, if this be true, show me the angel.” “That can only be if you will believe in one God, and be baptized.”

She sent him to Pope S. Urban (223-230), who baptized him; and when he returned, he saw Cecilia praying in her chamber, and an angel by her with flaming wings, holding two crowns of roses and lilies, which he placed on their heads, and then vanished. Shortly after, Tibertius, the brother of Valerian, entered, and wondered at the fragrance and beauty of the flowers at that season of the year. When he heard the story of how they had obtained these crowns, he also consented to be baptized.

After their baptism the two brothers devoted themselves to burying the martyrs slain daily by the prefect of the city, Turcius Almachius. They were arrested and brought before the prefect, and when they refused to sacrifice to the gods were executed with the sword.

In the meantime, St. Cecilia, by preaching had converted four hundred persons, whom Pope Urban baptized. Then Cecilia was arrested, and condemned to be suffocated in the baths. She was shut in for a night and a day, and the fires were heaped up, and made to glow and roar their utmost, but Cecilia did not even break out into perspiration through the heat. When Almachius heard this he sent an executioner to cut off her head in the bath. The man struck thrice without being able to sever the head from the trunk. He left her bleeding, and she lived three days. Crowds came to her and she preached to them or prayed. At the end of that period she died, and was buried by Pope Urban and his deacons.

It is written that as the musicians played at her wedding she ‘sang in her heart to the Lord’. Her feast day is celebrated on November 22nd. She is one of seven women, excluding the Blessed Virgin, commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass. It is supposed that she was a noble lady of Rome who, with her husband Valerian, his brother Tiburtius, and a Roman soldier Maximus suffered matrydom in about 230, under the emperor Alexander Severus.

Concert Cancellation Announcement

Dear Parishioners and Supporters,

We regret to announce that the concert, "PAMIBUKLUD: A Path of Melody to God's Community," scheduled for September 6, 2024, has been CANCELED.

Due to unforeseen logistical challenges, we have determined that it will not be possible to proceed with the event as planned. In light of this, we will be redirecting our attention to the preparation of the Feast of St. Catherine of Alexandria.

For those who have already obtained tickets, please return them to your respective officer or distributor for a refund.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to celebrating with you at future events.
