Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you [that is, to test the quality of your faith], as though something strange or unusual were happening to you.

1 Peter 4:12 (AMP)

No one who does anything worthwhile for God has traveled an easy road. Doing great things for God requires character, and character is developed by passing life’s tests and staying faithful to Him through trials.

One reason God allows us to go through tests and trials is to show us weak areas in our lives. Until they are exposed, we cannot do anything about them. But once we see them, we can begin to face them and ask God to help us. God allows us to walk through difficult times so we will recognize our need for Him. Never be afraid of the truth, because it is the truth that makes us free (see John 8:32).

The next time you encounter some sort of test or trial, determine to believe it will work out for your good. Say to God, “I believe this is going to work out well for me. I don’t understand it all right now, but I believe You will use it for my ultimate good.”

Prayer :
Father God, I know You care about everything that concerns me, and You are always working for my good. Use the tests in my life to strengthen my character. Help me stay faithful, grow closer to You, and guide me to trust Your plan, amen.

Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.

Far too many believers are fainthearted, weak in determination, and diseased with an “I can’t” attitude. They are plagued with000pfzua lack of spiritual power.

You and I don’t have to beg God to give us power. We just need to realize and accept that we have been given power and then walk in what is already ours. We can develop and maintain a “power consciousness”—an aggressive, power-packed attitude.

God has given us spiritual power for spiritual warfare. Spiritual power is released when our faith is firm. When we walk in faith in God, we can approach every situation with an enemy-conquering attitude.

An attitude of confidence will exude from us when we know who we are in Christ, how close He wants to be to us, and the power that the Bible says is ours through faith.

Do you desire to be a powerful believer? Try approaching every situation in your life with a simple, childlike faith—believing that God is good, that He has a good plan for your life, and that He is working in your situation.

Prayer :
Father God, thank You for giving me the power and authority of the name of Jesus. Help me walk boldly in that authority and in the strength of Your conquering name, amen.

SCRIPTURE READING — DANIEL 5:1-9
King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of his nobles and drank wine with them.
Daniel 5:1

There are parties that end in tragedy. Our Bible reading for today talks about a party that ended with the sudden fall of a kingdom. This happened in the palace of the most powerful king in the world at that time. He literally saw “the writing on the wall” that told him his days were numbered (see Daniel 5:25-30), and the king was terrified.
The feast of King Belshazzar of Babylon included only select people. Nothing was missing at this party: the best food, expensive wines, beautiful women, even the golden goblets raided from the temple of God in Jerusalem. Then, in the midst of this revelry, a hand appeared and wrote a message on the wall. But none of the king’s guests or his wise men could read it. The rest of Daniel 5 explains that Daniel was summoned to interpret the writing on the wall. It was a message from God announcing the end of Belshazzar’s kingdom. And on that night the kingdom was overthrown.
How hard it is to hear that one’s kingdom is coming to an end! Maybe the words come from a doctor or in a bankruptcy declaration. Maybe the greatest of dreams and plans has gone up in smoke. We cannot live in a way that goes against God or is indifferent to the eternal life that only God can provide. Why would we want just fleeting happiness when the true God offers us life forever, full and free?

Prayer
Lord, we know that seeking pleasure at all costs brings bitter consequences. Spare us from ruin, turning our hearts to follow you. Amen.
