Faith That Chooses to Stay
Bible Sermon
Main Text: Ruth 1:16-17
"Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God."
Introduction
In a world where many people easily give up, God honors those who remain faithful. Faith is not only about believing God when everything is good; faith is choosing to stay committed when life becomes difficult.
Ruth is a powerful example of a person whose faith chose to stay. After losing her husband, she could have left Naomi and started a new life elsewhere. Instead, she chose loyalty, commitment, and trust in God.
1. Faith Chooses to Stay During Difficult Times
Ruth stayed with Naomi despite uncertainty.
Lesson: True faith remains steadfast even when the future is unclear.
Bible Verse: Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
Faith says, "I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I will stay faithful to God."
2. Faith Chooses Commitment Over Convenience
It would have been easier for Ruth to leave, but she chose commitment.
Many people follow God only when it is convenient. Genuine faith remains committed even when sacrifices are required.
Bible Verse: Galatians 6:9
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
3. Faith Chooses God Above Everything Else
Ruth declared:
"Your God will be my God."
Her decision was not just about Naomi—it was about serving the Lord.
Faith stays because it trusts God's purpose more than personal comfort.
Bible Verse: Joshua 24:15
"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
4. Faith That Stays Receives God's Reward
Because Ruth stayed faithful, God blessed her beyond her expectations.
She became the wife of Boaz and was included in the family line of Jesus Christ.
Faithfulness today opens the door to God's blessings tomorrow.
Bible Verse: James 1:12
"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial."
Conclusion
Faith that chooses to stay:
Stays during difficult times.
Chooses commitment over convenience.
Chooses God above everything else.
Receives God's reward in due season.
When others walk away, faith remains. When circumstances become hard, faith stays. When the future is uncertain, faith trusts God.

Ask yourself: "Where is God calling me to remain faithful today?"
